According to a casting notice released to CHUD, James Wong (Final Destination) will write and direct a live-action adaptation of Dragon Ball Z for 20th Century Fox.

Based on the manga created by Akira Toriyama and the popular Japanese anime series, Dragon Ball Z tells the story of Goku, a martial arts master who defends the Earth from alien threats by enlisting the Seven Dragon Balls - artifacts of immense power which are the only way he can hope to defeat the alien menace, Picolo.

The live action film is combining elements from all of the different visions of Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z without being afraid to make significant changes.

According to the cast list:

[GOKU] 18 years old, Goku is considered uncool and unpopular at school, but he is in fact an extremely talented martial arts fighter who gets rigorous training from his grandfather, Gohan. After the death of his grandfather by the evil Lord Piccolo, Goku finds his destiny in his grandfather's dying request that he find Master Roshi and gather all seven Dragon Balls (of which he has one) in order to prevent Piccolo from succeeding in his desire to use the dragonballs to take over the world. Trained by Master Roshi, aided by Bulma and Yamcha, friends he meets along the way, Goku proves himself a formidable, almost undefeatable fighter. On many dangerous adventures to find the remaining Dragon Balls and thus save the world, Goku conquers physical and emotional challenges, ultimately saving the world but clearly impelled to spend his life searching for the Dragon Balls with his trusty companions...LEAD

The film is expected to start production in Montreal in November.

ok i know that guy he is from knee high PI and the pirates otc movies. you guys need to realize taht krillin is not a midget. it would be a never-ending joke if they casted one as him, and for all those who say danny devito should play krillin...YOU SHOULD DIE. i think a short guy can play krillin, but no dwarfs or midgets or practical joke type people should play krillin, even tho he is kind of a lame character

must make it a 15 james, aim for brutal action, and cool epic diologue, u should use brandon routh as goku, as he has definatley proven himself as a good actor for playing a gentle hero, and he looks like goku. and he has dark hair. mark strong has also proven himself in stardust for vegeta maybe, he looks like him as well. EPIC james, please make it good...
