McG Set to Direct Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins

He'll be back, all right...

According to Moviehole, McG (We Are Marshall) will take the reins of a new Terminator franchise dubbed Terminator Salvation.

This comes from a great source. A top source. A source that would go well on pie... or not. But whatever the case, if this person is saying it... it's a done deal as far as I'm concerned.

One of our oldest Moviehole friends checked in a few minutes ago to let us know that those whispers about McG being in talks to direct the new "Terminator" movie - They're no longer just whispers, and he's no longer simply 'in talks'. The "Charlie's Angels" helmer is signed, sealed and delivered. He will direct "Terminator Salvation : The Future Begins".

This probably isn't a surprise to anyone, considering everyone from the fan site to the trade blog has linked McG's name with the movie, but I thought the update might at least hold Ab King over for the weekend.

Apparently this will be a brand new trilogy, set in the future, told over a three-movie span. The first movie is slated for a 2009 release and will revolve around the full-scale war between Skynet and humankind.

personally i think that T3 was the best one in the series mainly because linda hamilton was missing,i agree that the thought of McG directing is rather worrying ,especially considering how bad charlies angels was

it could work but mc g has to be true to the story, arnold at least has to make a cameo. the rock would make a good terminator...remember when him and arnie past each other on the rundown? it's a pass me down...i hope they at least bring back nick stahl and claire daynes....stan winston's makeup will have to be part of it too

I agree that it seems that great movies like the Terminator seem to be "squealed" to death. It's like when you make a copy of something so much that in the end you cant even understand what's on the page because its all washed out. I image that this director will try and make that same old tired sci-fi action/adventure pic. And that it will have no emotion or nothing new to say about the series. Might I make two suggestions? I believe that this 4 "and hopefully last" edition of this movie will be set apart from the first three in that it will be less action/adventure and more sci-fi drama. I image a world where man is being exterminated and the machines are treating humans the same way the Nazi's treated the Jews in WW2. I would also show the obvious link between another great sci-fi movie "The Matrix". After all the Matrix is just an extension of the end of the world created by the machines in the terminator. Hopefully this movie will have the emotional depth that one would see when watching not just one human but all of humanity die. I hope that this new movie will have all of that but I doubt it.

McG is a disgrace of a director mainly because when you see "Directed By McG" you just laugh. Some music video directors should stick to that territory. Terminator doesn't need 3 more movies, I can see one more to wrap up Judgment Day, but 3!

It all depends on the casting and the direction along with state of the art CGI i cant wait. Now who to cast as The Terminator....

All jokes started after they decided to do Terminator 3 without cameron.Nothing will be better than the first two movies no matter what.Yes i'll watch it but i don't expect anything good.

With Out James Cameron, Linda Hamilton & Schwarzenegge the film will flop! .... & we all saw what McG did with "Charlie's Angles"!!! (& what kind of name is McG anyways??)

McG did an ok job with Charlies Angels, but the Terminator aint no music video clip so he better not turn the movies into a joke and ruin the franchise!
