It seems that Brandon Routh may still be slated to wear the red and blue tights of Superman in the sequel to Bryan Singer's Superman Returns. Contrary to earlier rumors that Routh was out as Superman, Ain't It Cool News has discovered otherwise.

The next time that Superman appears on the big screen will be in George Miller's Justice League of America. In this film, an actor other than Routh will be playing the role of Superman - just like there will be an actor other than Christian Bale playing Batman. However, in the next stand-alone Superman film, tentatively titled Superman: The Man of Steel, Warner still wants Routh to return.

So, just to clarify; We will see a new Superman in Justice League of America. But Routh will still be Superman when they make Superman: The Man of Steel.

i agree. i think they have already scrapped Justice league tho. The strike is really hurting them...Shucks!!! lol

Forget justice league, make Superman sequel. If they decide to do Justice league, the movie will suck without the key actors such as Brandon routh as Superman and expecially Christian bale as Batman. To replace them will piss alot of fans off and don't be surprised that it wouldn't hit the budget they are expecting for. Just putting out the facts.

its to avoid creating any connection between the justice league movie and the other DC comic films. to show that they are not based on the same plots. and i think Singer might do a better job the second time round but i think DC might be done playing around with people screwing up their heroes reps in films. so once the director makes one bad film they are done is the way im taking it.

i heard that a different actor will play Superman in Justice League why? but... Routh is superman, if he is not play in JLA, i will not watch it... do anyone agree with that?
