@TheFury And once again, you make yourself look like a complete ass. I remember in one thread you said the following: "Well, you know what. I just absolutely annoyed the hell out of me..." I think I speak for many here on MW when I say that you annoy us as well. You need research done, do it yourself scrub. I know long division is difficult and keeping you up at night, but I'm sure your second grade teacher will let you go to the library once or twice. Just because you have an avatar of one, doesn't mean you have to actually be a pinhead.
As far as this argument goes, my point is that if Polanski does a good enough job to warrant an Oscar nomination, he will get one. Your whole "he won't get one because of Sandusky" spiel is complete garbage. He already won during one child abuse scandal on a bigger scale, so there is no reason to think he couldn't win during another.

@ejk1 You moron. This took place after the Oscars of 2002. You do some damn research and stop making sh*t up. Give me sources, idiot.

@ejk1 Ah well. Anyways, I'm still looking forward to Carnage. If it ends up being good, then it's good. No need to live in the past.

@bawnian-dexeus Well, what he did with that girl was wrong without doubt, but I can't help but feel sorry for Polanski. The Manson family murdered his wife, Sharon Tate, and their unborn child. I can't help but wonder how those events affected him psychologically, and if they played a role in what happened with that little girl. Again, not defending his action, I just have sympathy for what the man went through at an earlier stage of his life.

@ejk1 I had no idea that happened to Polanski, and I loved the Pianist. I'm shocked.

@TheFury Wrong. Even though reports surfaced as early as the 1980's, lawsuits were filed in 2001, and then a 2002 article in The Boston Globe finally drew worldwide attention to the problem. You really need to do some research before shooting your mouth off, son. You just keep looking foolish.

@ejk1 No dude. That priest sh*t wasn't until like a year later.

@TheFury They would still nominate him if his film was deemed worthy. You forget, it was around that time that the Catholic priest scandal started to erupt.

@ejk1 Yeah 2002. No coach rapist around, now were there. Today, no one wants these types of people nominated.

@TheFury You are aware that Polanski won the 2002 Academy Award for Best Director Award for The Pianist, right?

@CelluloidDreams Roman Polanski will never win or get a nomination for a long time in America. He raped a girl and ran off without facing justice. He's done in awards, especially now with all this Jerry Sandusky/coaches raping kids thing going on.

....Sad "Drive" didn't make the cut!!
Very Surprised ...and happy for Madonna for her film "W.E."
.....W.E. received two nominations at the 69th Golden Globe Awards, in the categories of Best Original Song for "Masterpiece" and Best Original Score for Abel Korzeniowski

Oh hell yeah. Ricky's coming back. I'll definitely watch it now. The nomination for the Help just makes me wanna vomit. Wow, American Horror Story for best drama. Is it that good.

This is why I can't stand the Globes. No Fincher and no Spielberg for best director.
Overall, I like their list of BP nominees, although I think the Help is terribly, terribly overrated. There's no way it should be nominated above Dragon Tattoo or Tree of Life. Glad to see Gosling nominated twice, even though I personally thought Drive was his best performance of his three films this year.

If Meryl Streep doesn't win it this year then everyone should see through the facade that is the Globes/Oscars and not watch them anymore.
