Though the King's speech score was excellent-I think Social network takes the cake

I am upset that Desplat was snubbed of his "Harry Potter and the deathly hallows" score. It was superb.
I am also upset that his chances of winning this year are yet again-slim

Im keeping this in terms of last years winners.
I'm going to guess Nolan is going to win best director. People loved inception.
Last year-James Cameron won. People loved avatar.
If not Nolan, then David Fincher. It is definitely his year

I'm surprised Danny Boyle didn't get nominated for Best Director, out of the 5 Directors I think the competition truly lies between Darren Aronofsky, David Fincher and Christopher Nolan. Not to say the other two didn't do a great job because they did, but from looking at how the films were made themselves I see these three battling it out, my hope is for Nolan to win but I can't say he will for sure, they're all worthy of the win in my mind

@ejk1: 100% right. @wichitagalzl: Agreed. walhberg is always wahlberg. His performances basically depend on how much a role is tailored to fit his personality; not the other way around. I.e. Departed, and The Fighter - both Bostonians. Go figure.

He was great as dirk diggler as well, but it was almost like dirk diggler as mark wahlberg; not mark wahlberg as dirk diggler.

This is why I don't go by the Golden Globes for Oscar picks. Last year, Avatar won Best Picture in Drama. Let me make one thing very clear that we can all agree on: The ten movies above in the two categories for best film, Comedy and Drama, are not the ten best films of the year. 127 Hours will get nominated by the Academy, and then it will become a crapshoot.

WTF! The Best Comedy/ Musical nominations are poorly choiced!

'Alice in Wonerland'? WHAT THE HELL!? That wasn't even a comedy nor a musical. It was more of a fantasy and besides that movie wasn't even good. Why the hell was the nominated!?

'Burlesque'? The hell???? I enojyed, but that wasn't a good movie to others. Should'd have been nominated at all!

'Red'? Seriuosly???? Yes, I did enjoy 'Red' but that wasn't good enough to be nominated for Best Comedy/ Musical. Thats not even the best Action/Comedy of the year. The best one is 'Kick-Ass'

'The Tourist'? DAMN IT! I only got a few laughs out of that film, but it still wasn't any good. DAMN!

The only decent Comedy/Musical tjhats actaully the best of the nominations is 'The Kids Are All Right'. That is the only good pic to be nominated.

What is going on???? The nominations of Comedy/Musical are poorly choiced. Last year was well nominated. There are many other great and decently good comedies and musicals of this year that should have been nominated. 'Toy Story 3', 'Kick-Ass', 'Tangled', 'Hot Tub Time Machine', 'Scott Pilgrim vs. the World', 'The Other Guys', 'Easy A', and 'Get Him to the Greek' are all great choices that should have been nominated for Best Comedy/Musical. Here are the comedies and musicals that should have been nominated in order starting from the best.

    Toy Story 3
    Kick-Ass
    Tangled
    The Kids Are All Right
    Easy A

Why went these movies inominated ncluding the others I named? Yes 'Toy Story 2' (not 'Toy Story 3') won the Golden Globe for Best Comedy/Musical of 1999, but still 'Toy Story 3' should have been nominated!

The Golden Globes choices for Best Comedy/Musical have gone bad this year. I'm sorry, but for reading the nominations of the Comedys I give this a THUMBS DOWN!

I agree @babyh, I wasn't expecting a nom for either of those and I was suprised to see Wahlberg up there. I had heard Bale's performance is top notch, but Wahlberg was just Wahlberg...

A couple of surprises to me are Halle Berry for best actress and Jesse Eisenberg for best actor, who basically played himself like he does in every movie. Also glad to see Jeremy Renner get a nomination.

Hmmm, interesting list. I'm suprised that 127 Hours wasn't nominated for Best Picture-Drama. I had figured that it would be a instant in. Other than that it is almost what I expected...

  28. Diaigma

Totally, @geek - I mean, The Tourist is one of the lowest rated films of the year (20%), so how the heck did that get in there? :P

And it's too bad that 127 Hours isn't getting the love it deserves.

  29. ZanyZap

@moviegeek: I agree for the most part.

The Social Network looks to be the film to beat this year. The absence of 127 Hours definitely increases TSN's chances at the Oscars.
