National Lampoon, Inc. announced that it has acquired the theatrical and home video rights to International Danger Alliance's critically acclaimed post-apocalyptic comedy Beach Party at the Threshold of Hell. Beach Party is National Lampoon's third title acquisition, following the recently announced Les Claypool picture, Electric Apricot.

Beach Party at the Threshold of Hell is scheduled for theatrical release this fall through National Lampoon Releasing, and will be distributed to home video in the first quarter of 2008 through National Lampoon Home Entertainment. The movie premiered at the LA Film Festival in 2006 to much critical praise. USA Today called it "a visual stunner!...Quentin Tarantino meets Mad Max. Daring, sprawling and unafraid to pull out the stops."

"With the acquisition of Beach Party we continue to fulfill our business plan of acquiring and distributing up to twelve feature films per year, while at the same time, producing our original National Lampoon slate," said Tom Daniels, President of Worldwide Distribution at National Lampoon. "We have just completed principal photography on National Lampoon's Ratko: The Dictators Son, our second original feature, and are commencing production on our third, National Lampoon's 301 this fall.

Beach Party at the Threshold of Hell is a futuristic dark comedy set 20 years after the fall of the United States. The movie follows Tex Kennedy, his two robot companions, and the fabled young woman "Cannibal Sue", as they journey to New America's capital "The Threshold of Hell," in an attempt to unite the battered nation. We come to learn how Tex, (along with a young appointed king and his murderously jealous cousin) a giant sea snake, a descendant of Fidel Castro, the spawn of Satan, and a communication radio tower will play a vital role in shaping the history of the new nation.

The movie is written by and stars Kevin Wheatley (Rise: Blood Hunter), who also co-directed with Jonny Gillette (Champagne Society). Jamie Bullock (Arrested Development) Produced and also stars in the film. The ensemble cast includes Bill English (Cavemen), J.P. Manoux (Knocked Up), Tony Hale (Stranger Than Fiction), Chandler Parker (Undefeated), Daniel Baldwin (Our Fathers), Richard Riehle (Bandits), Jonathan L. Davidson (A Shot In The Dark), and Jane Seymour (Wedding Crashers) in a classic cameo as President of the fallen nation.
