Marvel Announces Their Future Film Line-Up

Marvel Entertainment released their Q1 earnings report today, fresh off the very successful opening weekend of Iron Man. In their release, Marvel clued us in to their plans for their future film adaptations, including Thor, Iron Man 2 and The Avengers.

From their press release:

Marvel today updated its feature film slate strategy and plans for the next three years, locking in key release windows for its character franchises. In order to focus its attention on maximizing the success of an Iron Man sequel and the launch of Thor in the summer of 2010 and because Marvel believes that the summer is the optimal time to launch a new property, the Company will not release a self produced film in 2009. Marvel plans to launch its 2010 film slate with the release of the sequel, Iron Man 2, on April 30, 2010, followed by the launch of Thor on June 4, 2010. Additionally, Marvel is planting its feature film stakes for summer 2011 with an Avengers-themed summer - a two-picture project which will debut on May 6, 2011 with The First Avenger: Captain America (working title), followed by The Avengers in July 2011.

Marvel also released their 'pipeline' for licensed properties in film, television, DVD and stage.

Remember Secret Wars? Bet that would've been made into a film if the comic had been released now. Not quite sure how it would've been made into a manageable film format that would have made sense though. Would've been interesting to see it I reckon.

Used to know a lot about Marvel comics, but that was a generation ago. My last comic collection was Spiderman and Zoids, (of which I managed to get the full collection)20years ago! Was laughing at my complete lack of recent knowledge. But thanks again AR, want to know where the stories are upto.

If ur being serious, i don't mind telling u. If ur just kidding, i'm still gonna tell u. Listen up:

The Skrulls r a shape shifting race of aliens who first appeared in a Fantastic Four comic during the Stan Lee days. Since then, they've been nothing but a nuisance for the heroes of the Marvel U, and were the center of a crossover event called the Kree/Skrull War, in which the Skrulls were at war with an enemy alien race, the Kree. Now, they've shown up again, only this time, they've gotten smart. It was recently revealed that Skrulls have been taking and replacing people on Earth for some kind of invasion. Not alot has been revealed yet, but the people of have been outted as Skrulls include Hank Pym, Elektra, and Jarvis, the might avengers butler. U can catch all the event madness in the 8-issue mini-series "Secret Invasion." Issue 1 and 2 r already on sale.
