Joel Edgerton in talks to star in 300: Battle of Artemisia
Actor Joel Edgerton is in talks to star in 300: Battle of Artemisia for Warner Bros. and director Noam Murro.

Joel Edgerton will play Themosticles, a Greek general who lead his army to victory over the Persians in 480 B.C. The prequel is based on Frank Miller's upcoming graphic novel, which takes place before the events in 300.

Noam Murro is directing 300: Battle of Artemisia from a screenplay by 300 director Zack Snyder and Kurt Johnstad. It isn't known when production may begin on 300: Battle of Artemisia.

300: Battle of Artemisia comes to theaters August 2nd, 2013 and stars Eva Green, Sullivan Stapleton, Rodrigo Santoro, Jamie Blackley. The film is directed by Noam Murro.

    @bawnian-dexeus Well, the true story behind this is that while the 300 were at Thermopylae there was another battle taking place at the same time and that is the battle of Salamis which took place in the straights of Artemisium. It was a Navel battle for the most part and a took place on a much larger scale. (i am a history buff...what can i say).

    But ya i see what your saying. Putting 300 before this other navel battle is, like i said a ploy to get people interested but like you said....they could have just dont the blah blah blah stufff on the poster. But my point is that these battles were happening at around the same time.
