Scholastic, the global children's publishing, education and media company, released both the front and back covers of the highly anticipated Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, J.K. Rowling's seventh and final Harry Potter book due in stores on July 21st at 12:01 a.m. Once again, the stunning cover art was created by Mary GrandPré, the acclaimed illustrator of all six previous U.S. editions of the Harry Potter books.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Front and Back Book Cover Revealed

"The front cover of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows features a dramatic sky of oranges and golds. It depicts 17-year-old Harry with arm outstretched, reaching upward. The structures around Harry show evident destruction and in the shadows behind him, we see outlines of other people," said David Saylor, Scholastic's Vice President and Creative Director who has designed all seven Harry Potter covers.

"For the first time the cover is a wrap-around. On the back cover spidery hands are outstretched towards Harry. Only when the book is opened does one see a powerful image of He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named, his glowing red eyes peering out from his hood."

Bloomsbury Publishing Plc also today released the cover images for Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, which will appear on editions distributed in Britain, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and many other countries throughout the world.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, J.K. Rowling's sixth Harry Potter book, was released on July 16, 2005, and was the fastest-selling book in history selling 6.9 million copies in the first 24 hours. All six Harry Potter books, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, as well as Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince have been number one bestsellers in the United States, Britain, and around the world. The American editions of the Harry Potter books are published under Scholastic's Arthur A. Levine imprint.

In this cover Tom looks like a giant whereas Harry is using advanced magic(no wand). And this Colosseum does not look like the Great Hall of Hogwarts where the are supossed to be.The cover sucks.Honestly.

The US cover shows Harry and Voldemort in their final showdown in the Great Hall of Hogwarts. The enchanged ceiling shows the golden sunrise. Harry is reaching up to catch the Elder wand which is flying through the air because of his Expelliarmus spell. The back shows Voldemort, dying from his own rebounding Avada Kedavra curse. The curtains on either side suggest the veil in the Death Chamber of the Department of Mysteries.
also i have read the book if you have any questions

Upon closer examination, Harry appears to be wearing a pendant around his neck. Salazar Slytherin's locket, by any chance?

You two are worrying about the quality of the art, rather than examining the image for clues. For example:

Neither figure is holding a wand.

Harry's scar is obscured by his hair - is it gone? Is it there? We can't tell. Such things are not accidental.

They seem to be in an outdoor arena, observed by an audience. How the heck THAT would come about I have no idea.

The ground beneath their feet appears shattered, broken. Is this emblematic of what Voldemort's war does to the world?

Harry seems to be summoning something, Voldemort seems to be warding it off. Whatever it is seems to be small enough for Harry to catch in his hand. What could it be?

Are the curtains symbolic of closing the curtains on the story, or will the pair battle their way onto a stage at some point?

There are a million clues here, down to the 13 figures in the audience, the seven pillars, and the nine archways. None of that gets into an image like this at random...

Looks like a fourth grader drew it. The cover sucks. I mean really. What are Harry and Voledamort buds now. High five friend. Yeah right!

The cover looks like Harry and Voldy are teaming up for something, not Voldy is stretching hands out towards Harry. . . dear lord this cover really sucks. If they wanted arms outstretched grabbing towards Harry they shouldn't have made Harry look so small and as if he were standing alongside Voldy. . . hope the book doesn't suck too.
