2012 Movie Trailer Mash-Up

2012 promises to be the year of the blockbuster, and there are plenty of exciting releases that will surely lift cinema out of the gutter, rejuvenating the US box office. Over the past couple of days, we've seen one awesome trailer after the next get released on-line. Now, our friend Mark Brandon has collected, compiled, and edited all of that footage into one big badass trailer. It's the Ultimate 2012 Trailer Mash-Up, and you can check it out below, featuring scenes from such eagerly awaited epics as The Dark Knight Rises, The Amazing Spider-Man, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, and a whole lot more. Click on the clip below, and you may become as excited about 2012's upcoming release slate as Mark Brandon.

Mark Brandon has gone into detail on his own person blog on how this came together. Here's what he had to say.

Well, I've finished it and took bloody ages!! The Dark Knight Rises trailer came out and as soon as I saw it I knew I had to do a giant 2012 mash up trailer similar to my 2010 one.

I made the trailer in 10 basic steps:

  • Step 1: Downloading all 19 Trailers (1hour)
  • Step 2: Taking all Production Company Slides, Titles, Dates and Taglines out (3hours)
  • Step 2: Creating all Dialogue and Sound Effects sub clips (2hours)
  • Step 4: Creating all Slow Shots, Fast Shots and Character Shot Sub clips (2hours)
  • Step 5: Finding the Music used and preparing that (converting to AIFF types) (30mins)
  • Step 6: Blocking out the Mac and Yahoo Logos... i didn't get to do them all but quite a few.
  • Step 7: Slowing down the opening music, transitioning the music. The opening "Star Spangled Banner" Was simply too fast so had to slow it down and i like that it created a creepy eerie feel brining in Bane's Dialogue.
  • Step 8: Raising the decibels to create more tension and excitement.
  • Step 9: Creating the MB11 Productions title (Googling the font used in The Dark Knight) Creating a shape and having to transition them in perfectly was tricky. The color was also tricky but i think it works.
  • Step 10: Rendering all

That was a very basic breakdown of the steps... obviously not including arranging all the clips, transitioning them all and syncing them all - but no one has to read about that ha. Thanks sooo much for watching and if you haven't here it is. Thanks for your support!"

You can do this while still having lots to do in your life. Hour a day. No rush.

So you accept only the positivity people give, but reject the negativity even if it's helpful criticism? Talk about being arrogant and close minded.

@bawnian-dexeus Final Cut Pro :) @p3rfect yeh ok whatever you say, any flaws the video has trust me i know and trust me are fixeable and maybe if i did it full time and had nothing else to do in my life i would've fixed them. Just tried to make an entertaining vid for everyone. Not win best editing at the 2012 Oscars... no constructive criticism needed here thanks...

    @mb11

Pretentious? Possibly if so I apologize. But you don't know any of the movie web staff? You sent a simple e-mail asking?

My statements was constructive criticism, but it could of been more detailed.
The videos aspect ratio didn't match with each other and didn't transition well between scenes. Some parts of the volume/songs was off and didn't transition well too.

The continues use of flashing to black screen and than the video didn't work, because it didn't match the song properly. Some scenes also did't match the mood/atmosphere of the song/lyrics.
