2011 Razzie Award Winners

M. Night Shyamalan's The Last Airbender wins Worst Picture at the Razzie Awards
M. Night Shyamalan's The Last Airbender wins Worst Picture at the Razzie Awards
Voting members of The Golden Raspberry Award Foundation have sifted through the cinematic rubble of last year's Berry Worst Achievements in Film, and come up with the "winners" for The 31st Annual Razzie Awards. Results are announced in satirical ceremonies held at Hollywood's Barnsdall Gallery Theatre at 7:30pm PST on Saturday, February 26, 2011 - the now traditional Night Before the Oscars.

Not quite sweeping the ceremony, but still handily leading the pack among this year's Razzie choices is Razzie Repeat Offender M. Night Shyamalan's "re-imagining" of the faux-anime' TV series The Last Airbender into a jumbled, jump-cut mess of a movie that fans of the TV show hated even more than critics did (if that's even possible!). In addition to Worst Director and Worst Picture, The Last Airbender also "won" Worst Screenplay, a brand-new Razzie category for 2010, Worst Eye-Gouging Mis-Use of 3-D, and Worst Supporting Actor Jackson Rathbone (who had the misfortune to appear in both The Last Airbender and 2010's other most-Razzie-nominated title, The Twilight Saga: Eclipse).

The other big "winner" (if that's the right term when speaking of these awards) was the bling-obsessed superslick chick flick Sex and the City 2, which took gold-spray-painted statuettes for Worst Sequel, Worst Screen Ensemble (for its entire cast) and Worst Actress (presented jointly to the film's four principles, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Cynthia Nixon and Kristin Davis).

Rounding out the field of this year's sorriest cinematic losers were King of the Twittering Twits Ashton Kutcher as Worst Actor for both Killers and Valentine's Day, and Jessica Alba, finally "winning" a Razzie with her fifth nomination. Alba was named Worst Supporting Actress for her "performances" in four films, The Killer Inside MeLittle Fockers, Machete and Valentine's Day.

The Razzies were created in 1980 as a logical antidote to Tinsel Town's annual glut of self-congratulatory awards by John Wilson, author of The Official Razzie Movie Guide and Everything I Know I Learned at the Movies. "Winners" were determined by mailing ballots to 637 voters in 46 U.S. states and 17 foreign countries. Electronic voting and certification of this year's Final Razzie Ballot was handled by Vote-Now.com.

I'd have gone with both Vampires Suck and SINC2 over The Last Airbender by a decent margin in every category and I really enjoyed the cartoon! No way does Sly deserve to be nominated but to be honest I have never really paid any sort of attention to the Razzies, this would be my first comment ever on the award show actually!

The razzies used to be funny but now they are just cold hearted. They give nominations to people who truly do not deserve it. Seriously, although The Expendables was a little bit of a dissapointment in my opinion, Stallone does not deserve the nomination for worst director. And Dev Patel should not have been nominated at all. Although The Last Airbender was one of the worst movies I have ever seen (not exaggerating), Dev Patel was the only real saving point for the movie. And Nicola Peltz nomination for worst supporting actress is just mean in my opinion. she was not that bad in the film.

@spongebob-boxofficepants Think about what you just said for a moment. You said "the last airbender was expected to be a hit and a revival to shyamalan but everyone was disappointed", while that is putting it very mildly (it was a disaster of epic proportions), that statement shows why Airbender was given the... recognition?... over Vampires Suck. I've had this argument with other users already. As you say "vampires suck is a real wost but because everyone expects it to be a sucker", exactly (minus the real part). We expected it to suck, therefore when it did, it was no surprise. Airbender not only sucked from multiple angles (disregarding the transition from the source material to the silver screen), but the disappointment was MASSIVE, making it the bigger loser. I'm sure @diaigma, who was the biggest cheerleader for Airbender, would agree with me.

I agree with all of these. There isn't one thing I'd would have different. Great job this year, unlike the time you nominated Stanley Kubrick for The Shining and annointed yourselves certifiable dipsh*ts. Couple more years like this and you may redeem yourselves yet...

vampires suck is actually more worse than the last airbender (this has been the 3rd consecutive year that paramount won a razzie worst picture why?!)
the last airbender was expected to be a hit and a revival to shyamalan but everyone was disappointed, vampires suck is a real wost but because everyone expects it to be a sucker then it is just completely ignored!
