Inglourious Basterds begins in German-occupied France, where Shosanna Dreyfus (Mélanie Laurent) witnesses the execution of her family at the hand of Nazi Colonel Hans Landa (Christoph Waltz). Shosanna narrowly escapes and flees to Paris, where she forges a new identity as the owner and operator of a cinema.
Elsewhere in Europe, Lieutenant Aldo Raine (Brad Pitt) organizes a group of Jewish soldiers to engage in targeted acts of retribution. Known to their enemy as "The Basterds," Raine's squad joins German actress and undercover agent Bridget Von Hammersmark (Diane Kruger) on a mission to take down the leaders of The Third Reich. Fates converge under a cinema marquee, where Shosanna is poised to carry out a revenge plan of her own...
Inglourious Basterds was released August 21st, 2009 and stars Brad Pitt, Mélanie Laurent, Christoph Waltz, Eli Roth, Michael Fassbender, Diane Kruger, Daniel Brühl, Til Schweiger. The film is directed by Quentin Tarantino.

I also want to add that the reason why I put the definitions were because some readers couldn't understand why he'd call them basterds. Being how it's supposed to be a comedy I think the word fits in perfectly with the title.

Err, bastard has about 9-10 different meanings. If I called you a fat dirty bastard whether or not your parents were married during the time you were born is going to be the last thing on my mind.
I don't care if the movie is called Inglorious Bastards or Basterds. All that matters is whether or not the movie is going to be good/funny. With Tarantino behind it I'm sure it will.

Err
shut up stupid.
clearly a portion of the conversation was directed at the definition of "bastard", and a portion at "basterd".
maybe if you would pay a little attention you could have avoided looking like a retard, moviefanatic.

Should be interesting, Quentin Tarantino's had some hits and misses, but since he did "From Dusk Till Dawn," which is a favorite of mine, I'll give it a go. Hope it's good!

This looks like it could be up there with both Reservoir Dogs, & Pulp Fiction as Tarantino's best.
PS. he's far from being a hack!

Cool, now I know somewhat what this movie is gonna be like. A war movie.... I think. Also, now I know a cast member, Brad Pitt. I am pretty sure this movie will turn out good, because it is by Quentin Tarantino!

Err
a bastard is by definition a person whose parents were not married at the time of birth, and is not a person whose father is not in the picture.
www.dictionary.com guys, i suggest you use it once in a while, if you're gonna walk around not knowing such commonplace things.

This movie will be awesome, no doubt. Tarantino hasn't made a bad film and he is far from a hack.

A bastard is someone whose father is not in the picture. A basterd is an idiot, moron, etc.
And Raoul Duke is right. Pitt does look like a cross between Forrest Gump and Carl from Sling Blade. I was wondering why he looked that way when he was on Oprah promoting his new movie.

wardragon330, WTF?!
1) Tarentino is no hack. Reservoir Dogs, Pulp Fiction. I rest my case on his first two films alone.
2) How can you possibly justify your opinion of thinking this film will suck from a mere two photos?
3) Kill Bill: Vol. 2 wasn't as strong as the original, but the series altogether DID NOT SUCK.
4) Since what does Kill Bill have to do with Inglourious Basterds other than being all being directed by Tarentino in the first place?
5) *rasberry

I've read the script and it's for sure going to be amazing. Tarantino at his best, I can assure you.

So are you saying the movie is about men looking for there fathers. Lol. Useless and dumb information that i'm sure everyone on this website already knows, man 000. Tell us something we don't know. Nough said.

Baterd actually means metaphorically and realistically man without a father, so that's maybe where the title really means.

This sounds really good. It's obviously an action/war movie, but is it also supposed to be funny? Or a drama?
