Here at Movieweb, we have an outspoken group of individuals who make up our online community. And they contribute quite a bit to our site in terms of what films the paying public should and shouldn't see. This year, they have compiled their own personal lists to find out which five films of 2011 were the most talked about and loved last year, here on this site. They also picked through their least liked movies, and found which single title reined as the "Movieweb Movie of the Year".
Movieweb Users Moviegeek, Slysnide and Diaigma got both the top five and bottom five lists started in our User Forums, where quite a few readers chimed in on what they considered to be the best of the best, and the worst of the worst, seen on-screen in 2010.
The first thing that became quite obvious is that our very diverse group of readers have very diverse personal tastes in movies, as no top five list was alike, and there were quite a few surprising entries. tallied the movies in terms of which ones appeared on the most lists, and then each title was give points according to where it landed on any individual list. If a movie was voted number one, it got five points. If it was voted number two, it was awarded four points. And so on...
After all the votes were tallied, it shouldn't come as any surprise which movie rose to the tip top to become the favorite of everyone here on the site. With the most inclusions on each individual list, and the most accumulated points, here it is:
THE MOVIEWEB BEST OF 2010:
- Inception with 108 points
- #2 - The Social Network with 46 points
- #3 - Black Swan with 45 points
- #4 - Toy Story 3 with 36 points
- #5 - How to Train Your Dragon with 30 points
To find out which films just missed the cut, be sure to check out the rest of the best in our Forums.
Now we move onto the five worst films list, which was also compiled by using the same tallying system used to find which top five films thrilled moviegoers the most this past year. While Inception was an easy lock for best movie, there were far too many bad examples of horrible celluloid stinking up our theaters this past year. So it was a tough race. Here is the final list of bad movies as voted by our Users:
THE MOVIEWEB WORST OF 2010:
- The Last Airbender with 68 points
- #2 - Skyline with 46 points
- #3 - Clash of the Titans with 25 points
- #4 - Vampires Suck with 23 points
- #5 - Piranha 3D with 19 points
To find out what other movies irritated our loyal readers the most, be sure to check out our User Forums, here, here and here.
That's it for this year. As we head into March, here's to hoping that 2011 offers just as many good movies as it does bad.

Another film I would add to my "Worst Films of 2010" list would be: "Country Strong" .... What was Gwyneth Paltrow thinking....!?
"Country Strong" reminded me of: "Sweet Dreams (1985 film)" meets "Valley of the Dolls" .........with a twist of "Star is Born" from 1976!
Shhhhhh ....The ending wsa too predictable!
"Country Strong" would have worked better as a made for Tv movie of the week!.

Incepotion at #1....perfect. Nice to see How to Train Your Dragon on the board as well. Though no one has probably heard of this movie, I think Furry Vengeance was the worst film of 2010. But yeah, totally hated all those movies...especially The Last Airbender...though it was funny.

Another really bad film of 2010: "Eat Pray Love" ..
If you want to see an uninspired performance by Julia Roberts about a woman that is annoying and narcissistic, then this is the movie for you ..... Sorry Julia ..... but U should have gotten a "Razzie" nod for this perforamnce!
"Death at a Funeral" ...never saw it ...I stuck with the orginial!

@diaigma Your avatar is strange.. lol. I'm gonna catch Rango, but I don't have too high of expectations. I give Wall-E and Panda both 5-stars. But Panda was better.

Diaigma
@daveactor7 - you did clarify that. I don't think anyone is arguing that fact.
@moviegeek - you have no idea. So long as Pixar is winning, "everyone's happy" it seems. They've won plenty of Annies, but when Panda won over WALL-E, they screamed foul, claimed that the award was rigged, that Katzenberg was biased and even threatened to pull out of future ceremonies until the award process was changed (to their favor). Crybabies. Sore losers, plain and simple. Sorry, Pixar, but I liked Panda a hair more than WALL-E myself :P
Oh, and there's a new review for Rango up, and it's glowing! :D
@ejk1 - get on it man! :D

@moviegeek If it gets superb reviews and I'm nagged at enough to see it, I'll catch it on Netflix.

@daveactor7 Relax, man. I gotcha. Besides, as @diaigma said, we've got new movies coming out to fight over. I'm sure you'll find a new popular one to either be obstinately for or against, and we'll argue about that for the next 6 months lol.

When I have time, I'll watch both films. Then, I'll be able to get into this conversation.

@dan1 So if everyone loves it you still won't catch it in theaters?

Dan
I won't see Pooh in theaters, and maybe not on DVD either, since that is a relic from my childhood, and something I cherished as a child. If this new movie doesn't live up to some grand expectation I have from glorifying the older movies/series, it'll taint that impression I hold.

@dan1 Ive been liking HTTYD then TS3 ive established that quite a while ago dude

@daveactor7 Don't be grouchy dude ;) I, too, respect Toy Story 3. I thought it was a wonderful, wonderful film. But I just don't like how all of the acclaim was handed to Pixar on a silver platter, and Dragon had to work extremely hard to gain its standalone reputation. And then it wasn't even a battle to see who would get rewarded :(

@daveactor7 You did, but I have to give you a little more grief, it's my nature. I'll stop now. I'm glad you see the light, took ya long enough :)

@diaigma TinTin will have an 85% ish. I hope it's epic though.
I think the only ones with hopes of breaking 90 are Winnie the Pooh and maybe a suprise sequel like Kung Fu Panda 2 and Happy Feet 2, both of which had big buzz from their original films.

I'm so excited for Pooh.

@dan1 - ::evil viking laugh:: ):)
@moviegeek - I think animation will take a hit this year. I'm not sure any will breach 90%, unless Rio "swoops" in or Panda "kicks" butt, or Pooh "hits the spot." If they insist that Tintin be an animated feature, there's simply no contest :P

@moviegeek @daveactor7 - I just found a mixed one, and . . . glah! The first paragraph talks about how "nothing outside Pixar can be as good?" Give me a break! The guy calls the film "hollow" when all he does it talk about TS3 and "we've seen this before." Review the film, please. Comparisons make for weak reviews :P

@daveactor7 @diaigma Well my very underpopulated mass of reviews I've found at RT aren't too overwhelming with their acclaim.
