@Serial Scott Pilgrim has great effects, and Shutter Island besides the end has decent effects.
This is insane. Clash of the Titans visuals were awful (well, some of them), Hereafter's effects sucked, Percy Jackson's sucked, and Prince of Persia's effects are terrible. And @Serial just because you dont like a movie overall doesnt mean you have to screw some of the great aspects (of great films).

    Also, Unstoppable didnt have CG!!!

    My picks:
    1. Inception
    2. TRON: Legacy
    3. Iron Man 2
    4. Unstoppable (they got clips from train accidents, than transferred that to the film)
    5. Harry Potter

    My picks:

    1. Inception
    2. The Last Airbender
    3. Clash Of The Titans
    4. Harry Potter 7, Part 1
    5. Tron: Legacy (I haven't seen it yet, but I know the visuals rock.)

Screw "Scott Pilgrim" and "Shutter Island."

@Daveactor7: I was being sarcastic as those with early predictions (including myself) believe TSN will sweep the awards season (at least in nominations). I forgot about the Armie Hammer manipulation, so as they say, I guess the jokes on me. :P

  9. The Narrator: The Better Man

Lol, exactly @babyH. This is definitely Finchers year. I an't explain how well crafted TSN felt. IT was like a day i nthe life of *ssholes, meets a day in the life of ambition. Fantastic.

Hopefully Nolans next film, excluding maybe TDKR (f*ck the aademy), will take away the gold man for him. I don't want Nolan to be the DiCaprio of directors: all nominations, no wins. :/

  17. thedude-abides

True @Dave. I just think this is Fincher's year- even though I still like True Grit to win Best Picture (but don't hold me on that until I see it, lol).

  18. Daveactor7

@babyH i agree Fincher may secure it but theres also Tom Hooper who directed the excellent King's speech

Agreed @Narrator. Fincher's a lock for best director. (I assume that's who you meant, lol)

@Narrator art direction? I think Tron Legacy is a top lead for that

    1 year agoby @daveactor7Flag

  21. The Narrator: The Better Man

Lol exactly. I think those guys got their oscar for BB. I say give it to Inception. It'll need it, since I think they're gonna lose out for Best Picture and Best Director.

    Possible Inception shoe ins:
Editing (no way can it not win)
Art Direction (If the wolfman's nominated it might have a shot)
Cinematography (only rivaled by the great work done in TSN, and MAYBE (big maybe) HP:7)

  22. Daveactor7

@Narrator lol i think it was because that was the only FX in the entirety of the movie. Those same people did FX for Benjamin Button, but that film had a lot of cgi

    1 year agoby @daveactor7Flag

  23. The Narrator: The Better Man

@Zany, true, the effects used with Armie Hammers character(s) were fantastic, but I doubt the academy considers that worthy for an FX nomination.

  24. The Narrator: The Better Man

Whoa. I too am shocked that Wolfman and The Book of Eli aren't on here.

My would be picks: Inception (shoe in), Tron Legacy, Wolfman, and HP 7 Part 1. Nothing else really deserves it.

  27. Daveactor7

@ZanyZap lol I think its because the academy looks for films that have a decent to a large amount of visual effects. Social Network did not even have a decent amount

  28. ZanyZap

@dave Idk I would rather have a fantastic movie like inception win that has effects a tiny bit better than tron a most likely just decent movie like tron win with effects a tiny bit worse than inception. Lol
