15 Documentaries Vie for Best Documentary Oscar

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences have narrowed the field for the Best Documentary Oscar this year, and two notable titles were left off the list. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Academy has revealed the list of its 15 documentaries that will compete for the Best Documentary Oscar, down from 89 that were originally submitted.

Two of the most prominent documentaries of the year were left off the list, though. Michael Moore's Capitalism: A Love Story and James Toback's Tyson were not included among the 15 films selected. Take a look at the full list below.

Capitalism: A Love Story was released October 2nd, 2009 and stars Thora Birch, William Black, Jimmy Carter, Elijah Cummings, Baron Hill, Marcy Kaptur, John McCain, Michael Moore. The film is directed by Michael Moore.

    With you newkill. District 9 for Best Picture. and Matt Damon for best actor. It does seem the academy has been bitter to Moore for a while now.

    Lol, this just shows how pointless the Oscar's are. Michael Moore's doc should have definitely been nominated. I still think they hold dislike towards the guy because of his words on his acceptance speech when he won for Bowling for Columbine. This is bullsh*t. If District 9 isn't nominated for best picture and Matt Damon isn't nominated for best actor for the Informant, then I won't be watching this Oscar sh*t come March.
