By the way, folks, I don't get the thought that "TS3 should win because the other two didn't have a chance to win." Well, I got news for you. Toy Story DID win an Oscar for Special Achievement (the first animated film to win it). In other words, because there was no category for Toy Story at the time, it still brought something to the industry that was never achieved before - but today, it would easily get best animated feature. In my opinion, TS1 is leagues better than 3 - wholly original and non-reliant on spoofing for the heart and laughs.

@Worth5Bucks - I was talking about Disney's films through the 80's, good sir, JUST the films before Little Mermaid. You misconstrued what I said, or misread it. Most of the 80s Disney films were awful, hence their call for a renaissance movement. Wait. You don't agree with a single movie opinion of mine? About movies in general or just animation? I fail to see how that correlates with my sources, and fail to see how that's even possible. But hey, don't take my word for it. Tangled is 100% on RT at the moment. I think we're in for a big surprise :P

Lemme just and rephrase that then. @diagma ughh disney made about 20 good films before little mermaid, some of them fantastic. And since i havent agreed with every single one of you movie opinions i cant trust your sources, sorry.

So, Tangled won't be good because Disney has yet to make a good 3D animated movie, @Worth5Bucks? Wow. To think people had a similar attitude just before The Little Mermaid! Trust me, guys. Tangled is the best Disney in over ten years. My sources don't lie ;)

@daveactor7 i agree tangled will not be good I've never seen a disney 3d animation movie without pixar that ive enjoyed more than a 2.5 out of five. And besides im guaranteeing that disney wants toy story 3 to win the oscar. And it will. HTTYD should be winning though, it was better than TS3

That's exactly how I felt about both films, @The Narrator - only you put it better than I did. Ah well. We'll see what happens. Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs was my favorite animated film last year, but it wasn't even nominated. So again, we'll see.

And yes. That was Denise Hooper's last film. Makes me want to see it just to pay homage to the man, but still . . .

  15. The Narrator: The Better Man

@Dave... Toy Story 3... better than Inception? Really? Wow.

@Diaigma, that's what I was implying. The Academy will most likely give the win to Toy Story 3, as much of the audience does, because of one word: nostalgia (as you pointed out). The film had a great ending, the detail was rich, and the animation was majestic. But I found the immediate story somewhat lacking, and to be honest, it was pretty plain. I connected more to HTTYD. So, I am right with you and @Supes.

Agreed - the animation (physics/illusion/movement) were awful from the trailers alone : /

@diaigma and @daveactor7 Alpha and Omega had worse animation than Tangled. It was so dull that it was fake.

OH! Okay. I gotcha now. Your problem is the visual look! I get you. The animation, however (illusion of movement) is fine. The physics are solid.

@Diaigma lol when did i say that this is a HORRIBLE movie? I just said i dont like the animation and it doesnt look appealing or even worthy of a nomination. I may be proved wrong, but we shall see like you said.

  25. Daveactor7

@Diaigma lol i do take ur word for it, but I just dont see the point of it. The animation is just not strong enough to convey an emotional response and that is what really drives the movie. You can't have animation just because it looks great, but it also has to give an emotional charge. I have to admit, HTTYD had this and so did TS3 but Tangled? I dont see it.

  26. Diaigma

For you, right? You're the first I've heard be this harsh on it, based only on trailers. I've been exposed to more than the trailers. I already know how it all ends. I still want to see how it works, but it sure reads well. It's the kind of retelling I would do. And your problem isn't the animation, @Daveactor7 - it's the texturalized rendering/visual style, which I think looks great, almost porcelain like. The animation, the ability to create an illusion of movement, looks just fine. But if you don't like it, that's fine. Some critics back in the day didn't like Sleeping Beauty because the details were "TOO good." I know, weird, right? And since the directors are aiming for the same attention to detail as SB had, but with CGI, I have reason to be excited about how this new technique works out.

And what's so great about a twist from a Rapunzel tale? Wasn't Beauty and the Beast also a new twist? Aladdin? I agree that the illusionist looks great, but if you're judging from visuals alone . . . but whatever, there's no point arguing. If you can't take me (or my source's) word for it, wait for my review opening day. I may not like it in the end, so let's wait and see and not judge too harshly. And still, why is the animation uninteresting or unappealing?

@Daveactor7 I do mean the best movie of this year. Sorry if you don't agree with that but this is one of the best movies I've ever seen. It's on my top 10 list. Its one of the funniest animated movies I've ever seen. Its the best animated sequel ever made. I mean look at some of the other animated sequels in the past ten years. Look at this years 'Sherk Forever After'. It was such a exhausting disapiontment. 'Toy Story 3' is the best one of this year. Thats what I think.

@JakeNelson agreed but you mean best animated movie right? It cant be the BEST movie

The story takes a twist from the Rapunzel tale, but still what is so great about that? The illusionist has far more potential and I am quite sure of that even when tangled comes out
