Emmy Rossum Reports from the Set of Dragonball

Emmy Rossum (The Phantom of the Opera) is currently in Mexico, where she is involved with the shooting of Dragonball. In the film, Rossum plays Bulma, a scientific genius who aids Goku (Justin Chatwin) after her father's Dragonball is stolen by Piccolo (James Marsters). On the actress's MySpace, she reported a bit from the set.

Apparently the movie is now filming just outside Dunas de Bilbao, which is about an hour away from Torreon. Rossum doesn't provide many details about the state of filming, although she does spend a good two paragraphs discussing rabbits in the Mexican desert, and a pet rabbit she had as a child. She does however explain that she's been getting to know Joon Park, who plays Yamcha in the film, fairly well. "I'm not allowed to spill any secrets, but our characters interact a lot in the film," Rossum says. This suggests that the movie is retaining the relationship between Bulma and Yamcha from the anime and manga series of Dragonball.

Dragonball centers on an adult humanoid alien named Goku who, after discovering he was sent to Earth to destroy the population, tries to fulfill the wish of his dying grandfather and collect all seven of the world's mystical Dragon Balls to keep them out of the hands of the evil aliens. His chief nemesis for the film will be Piccolo, who is trying to conquer the Earth. The film is based on the manga created by Akira Toriyama, and is considered one of the most successful Japanese cultural exports of all time.

Dragonball is produced by Stephen Chow, and stars Justin Chatwin, James Marsters, Jamie Chung, Emmy Rossum, Eriko Tamura and Joon Park. Dragonball flies into theatres on August 15, 2008.

Well I have a collection of all dragonball series starting from the original when gokou arrived on Earth from the planet vegeta up to dragond ball gt where he got small and learn to become a super saiyan 4 and I have seen the real movie of dragonball i mean the first movie in case nobody has seen it. There is actually a little change in its adaptation and it really sucks although the action and effects were really cool back then thinking bout the original story, the changes they made in gokou's life and yamcha's it was already a disaster. This is not the first dragonball movie this the second adaptation already. The only difference is that the next movie would be produced and played by western actors and actresses. And I dont remember gokou being a high school student in the original dragonball movie and even in the anime series. Well my guess is there will be a lot of negative comments about this film when people get to see it especially the fans of dragonball and dbz. I would agree that they should try ruroni kenshin making a movie instead. Samurai X the real movie. Swords and samurai would be easy to adapt and won't be corny i guess. That would be fun and entertaining.Try to check out hunter x hunter also this is really awesome. dbz is really a good anime its fun watching it everyday episode by episode but adapting it to movie well it won't create really good ratings compared to the success of its original version(anime) because gokou's life shouldnt be changed nor any other characters it would really changed the entire story which what would the fans are expecting to see.Even for those who are not really a fan of dragonball they would actually say"hey this sucks who the hell is gokou why is he a student having such kind of power how did an alien ended up here? Unlike the batman, superman and other cartoons they seem to be more interesting both in comic and movies because these characters have a lot of open story arcs they can changed or could continue. And plus I have seen movies that actually came from anime adaptation and from the stats and comments that I heard its really better watching and following the original story.

For all the idiots out there. Whenever an adaptation of a comic, game, or anime comes out there has to be changes. If there isn't then it is just far too corny. And stop talking about it not being what you remember, cause this isn't a DragonBall Z movie it is a DragaonBall movie, which means that it follows the DragonBall series not DragonBall Z. For people who claim to be fans you don't know a lot. The only major changes that are confirmed so far are that Goku is in school and the original 2 tournaments in the Series have been turned into one. I personally think that changes had to happen for the series to be made into live action. So stop judging it by what the comic and show were like. Just take it as it is and see if you like it.

Well I think these guys who want to make this film should focus themselves on another anime favorite like hunterxhunter. It is really hard to make a real movie out of this animation. People would be really disappointed especially to dbz fans like me. The producers of this film really messed up the entire story.

I predict that this movie is going to be a disaster. I am a die hard fan of this series and reading the summary and cast list made me want to gag. First- Goku as a high school student? LAME! Did anyone ever SEE the show? He is obviously not a scholar of any means.
Second. Emmy Rossum. I love Emmy Rossum. She did wonders as Christine Daae in Phantom of the Opera, but there is no way she can be Bulma. She is too nice.
Finally, THERE IS NO VEGETA! Probably the only character as important as Goku does NOT have a debut! I mean, come on, he is Goku's foil for pity's sake!

Well copelandIII this is supposed to take place during Goku's teen years. They have already ripped off the new Camero from Transformers. At least according to the pics I found.

I wrote a dbz screen play in 2000 but couldn't find anyone interested. After reading the comments on the one coming out they haven't wathed every saga like i have. Goku killed his own adopted grandfather when he turned into an ape not Piccolo. I hope they dont ruin it
