Star Trek was released May 8th, 2009 and stars Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Leonard Nimoy, Eric Bana, Bruce Greenwood, Karl Urban, Zoe Saldana, Simon Pegg. The film is directed by J.J. Abrams.

Exactly, Shelley! I am a diehard Trekkie and I am so stoked to see this, I can't even believe it! The crew is great casting. I really dig the fact that they are actor's playing their versions of the classic crew...not Chris Pine, playing William Shatner as Kirk! I got chills viewing the latest trailer...this is my definite must-see of this year! :)

I disagree, I think the movie is going to be great and 'true trekkies' are not going to have any problem 'getting over the new crew'. You can't have 80 year old men in the film not to mention only half the original crew is no longer living. I believe trekkies are excited about a new crew because that means they can look forward to more movies.

Alundra, I was really excited about this movie when casting was in full swing and a couple of initial photos hit the web. That first teaser trailer of the workmen building The Enterprise was amazing!
But then more photos surfaced and the full-on trailers started to hit. Suddenly, everything looked like it was going down the wrong path.
The more I've seen and heard, the less I like. Costumes don't make or break a movie. Just something minor brought to my attention that I don't care for. In all fairness if you guys love this thing, great! At this point I'm gonna go just out of curiosity. Don't really expect my mind to be changed.

OMG, you're right, Draktyr!!! Didn't they learn anything from the costume design for Superman in "Superman Returns"?! It's just too much! Supes had "S" insignias all over his suit, including the bottom of the boots! Too busy and just plain overstated! This comes across the same way...YUCK!

Looking forward to how bad this is going to be. Critics are saying Trek fans will feel right at home and not be disappointed. Based on reactions I've heard from a number of people who saw one of the early screenings, I kind of doubt that. Just because it's big and loud doesn't make it any good!
