Screenwriter Michael Dougherty is getting robotic in a new way. According to Variety, the scribe has teamed up with Walt Disney Pictures and Robert Zemeckis' ImageMovers company for Calling All Robots. The project is said to utilize the same animation and motion-capture technologies used in Zemeckis' recent film Beowulf.
Dougherty will write alongside Breehn Burns and Simeon Wilkins, who also devised the concept with Dougherty and will also serve as artists and visual desingers for the film. The plotline hasn't been revealed, but Dougherty said that this will, "tell a story that's a throwback to old Godzilla movies."
Dougherty has written high-profile projects like X2: X-Men United, Superman Returns and the forthcoming Trick 'r Treat.
Zemeckis' motion-capture techniques will be put on display next in A Christmas Carol, which is set to hit theaters on November 6, 2009.
