Star Wars: Clone Wars

George Lucas officially announced today via Starwars.com that he will be bringing his highly anticipated animated series Star Wars: Clone Wars to theater screens across the country. The feature will run 100 minutes and it will be released on August 15th.

Following this event, the TV series will debut in the fall with thirty half hour episodes that will first run on The Cartoon Network before being re-aired on TNT. Star Wars: Clone Wars takes audiences on incredible new Star Wars adventures, combining the legendary storytelling of Lucasfilm with an eye-popping, signature animation style.

Star Wars: Clone Wars

George Lucas stated, "I felt there were a lot more Star Wars stories left to tell. I was eager to start telling some of them through animation and, at the same time, push the art of animation forward." The series will provide an entirely new look and feel to the franchise, combining the expansive scope of the Star Wars saga with state-of-the-art computer-generated animation. Each week, viewers will see a thrilling, 30-minute "mini-movie" created by the talented artists at Lucasfilm Animation.

Returning characters include Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Padme Amidala, along with brand-new characters such as Anakin's padawan learner, Ahsoka. Darth Sidious, Count Dooku and General Grievous are also set to return. Lucasfilm's Micheline Chau stated, "Warner Brothers and Turner are uniquely positioned to deliver on the enormous potential of The Clone Wars because together they offer a world-class opportunity: the theatrical and home-video distribution of Warner Bros. and the broad reach of the Turner Networks. This terrific combination hits the key demographic groups, ranging from kids to adults, that make up the Star Wars audience."

Star Wars: Clone Wars

Warner Brothers' Dan Fellman added, "This is a breakthrough project -- returning Star Wars to the big screen in a completely new way while beginning an exciting new chapter in George Lucas' legendary saga. We immediately felt that it would be a fantastic theatrical event and are thrilled to be bringing it to moviegoers."

either way im glad they're goin more in depth in the clone wars they did'nt show enough of it! How are they goin to explain Ahsoka not being mentioned in any of the other films?? especially being so close to Anakin as a padawan of course!.

I'm a huge Star Wars fan but I agree with seti73.... although I still the luv the new films, and that's cause I'm a diehard fan and those movies were full of fun Star Wars stuff. Disappointed with the dialogue, acting, way too many plot holes to count? Absolutely..... Ja Ja didn't piss me off as much as unbelievable coincidences like Anakin being the maker of C-3PO. Chewbacca and Yoda were ol' chums in the clone wars..... please. Plus, R2-D2, one of probably millions of astromech droids in the SW galaxy and he just happened to be owned by 1st Padme', then Anakin, then Luke? I mean, c'mon, what are the chances. The midiachlorins was a ridiculous concept too.... and notice it never came up again in the 2nd and 3rd film. I actually felt more in tune with the old feelings I got from the original trilogy watching the 20 animated shorts of the Clone Wars cartoon.

I agree Lucas may have lost some of his touch. But remember he didnt direct episodes 5 and 6. yeah he controlled the show but other directors got to show the stroy. 1-3 it was all lucas. ( with some help from steve on e3) i was a little disappointed with epsoide one,...two and three...i got what i expected. i agree...everyone has there right to judge a film..it would be really boaring if everyone felt the same.

New saga, new look, etc...true.

But bad continuity (on many levels) with 4-6...

AND with lines like "Don't make me kill you!" (Anakin) or "I will end this once and for all!" (Mace Windu)...really force me to believe Lucas lost his touch in favor of special effects.

4-6 were masterpieces to me; great acting, special effects, more realistic character interaction and awesome storyline. With 1-3, Lucas abandoned some of the original storyline and didn't seem to care too much about making a seamless transition.

Was I entertained? Sure. Was a disappointed? YES.

Anyway, just my opinions, of course. I respect everyone's right to favor a film for whatever reason (no matter how "good" or "bad" someone else may feel they are).

Cheers

awesome that it's hitting the big screen..... more intense clone war battles? I can deal with that.

This will be awesome...and episodes 1-3 were pretty badass. New saga, new look, new feeling.

Hopefully, Lucas won't be writing the dialogue on these.

IMHO, he killed episodes 1-3 with terrible character interaction and cheesy, campy lines. Sure 1-3 were fantastic in the special effects arena, but I got tired of the 6th grade dialogue...not to mention the sqeaky, cutesy, Muppet-like aliens running around...

Cheers
