The Chronicles of Narnia 3 Director Revealed

Source:  Ain't It Cool News
Ain't It Cool News has been informed that Michael Apted will be directing the third The Chronicles of Narnia movie.

The second film, The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian, is currently in production and is expected to be released in theatres on May 16th, 2008.

Andrew Adamson directed the first film, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe, and returns for the second film.

Adamson had previously announced that he would not direct the third film, The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, but would still be attached as a producer. In the story, Lucy and Edmund, with their dreadful cousin Eustace, get magically pulled into a painting of a ship at sea. That ship is the Dawn Treader, and on board is Caspian, King of Narnia. He and his companions, including Reepicheep, the valiant warrior mouse, are searching for seven lost lords of Narnia, and their voyage will take them to the edge of the world. Their adventures include being captured by slave traders, a much-too-close encounter with a dragon, and visits to many enchanted islands, including the place where dreams come true.

Apted has an impressive resume of directed movies under his belt including Gorky Park, Coal Miner's Daughter, Gorillas in the Mist, Amazing Grace and the James Bond film The World Is Not Enough.

Surprisingly I didn't mind the score all that much it was pretty good. Could have been better but could have been a lot worse too. I did however very much like the track titled The Battle, very emotionally driven. Hopefully he does as good a, if not better, job on the sequel than he did on the first. As for the movies themselves I go both ways. I love the amount of fantasy poured into these stories, however, I hate watching a movie where the leading cast members are children. The movie is bound to suffer in the acting department in that regard and it does. The only two kids I could bare to watch for more than two minutes at a time was the oldest brother and sister. The younger two were down right terrible, and the youngest brother drove me crazy. He was like a mini Hayden Christenson, all he did was complain and deliver terrible lines, not to mention betray his own family for some freakin chocolates. I hope they replace him, even though I know they wont. Still the films had their redeeming factors, such as the end battle and Aslan as well as a few others. I just wish the film were property of someone other than Disney. I always feel Disney pulls back too far in order to keep it family appropriate. Even though these are more childish stories than that of The Lord of the Rings or any other fantasy story, they still have dark elements that I feel were not portrayed dark enough on film. I feel that way about several of Disney's movies to be honest. Take Pirates of the Caribbean for example. Even though they are good movies and are supposed to be family oriented and comedic at times, it has very dark moments that I feel Disney lightened up too much. Don't be afraid to scare the hell out of more kids. However I cant complain both movies are very good and entertaining. Keep them coming.

As long as Harry Gregson-Williams stays to do the score then I'm happy :)

I'd either go with Michael Apted or Neil Burger. Both seem good to me

According to IMDB.com Neil Burger is the Director and Preproduction has already started. Who's right?

I just hate when a director starts to do a movie that has a book series and they know it will have 4,5,6,7,8 movies and then they quit doing them???

I hate these sequels. I know that there are many books, but Disney is starting to suck.
