Has Justice League Been Scrapped?

Source:  Entertainment Weekly
The future of George Miller's Justice League of America will be revealed, one way or the other, by January 15, 2008, according to a blog at Entertainment Weekly.

Their source says that Warner Bros wants another rewrite of the script for the big-budget superhero epic, but are debating whether or not to begin shooting without one. The studio has listed a January 15th deadline to either greenlight the film for a spring production start, or to push it off until the completion of the WGA strike.

If the studio decides to begin production, Justice League of America could still have a summer '09 release.

Reportedly, all of the seven heroes for the film have been cast, but it remains to be seen if the film will happen or not.

well the thing with this film is in moire than one article they have said that this is going to be like the comic book. yes i definitely read comic books. you cant even begin to critic this types of films without having done so. They hae said that the film will be revolving around the love story. I didnt really prefer that comic about the omacs and everything. I think there are aot better options to follow. I think they should wait until all the solo films complete their trilogies and then find a way to link the films. Make an origin of the Justice League, not the heroes, the league. show them getting together. not just there and the kiddie thing. i was worried you supported that for a moment. Im glad to see your not. I think George Miller was definitely the wrong choiec for this film. He does kid movies and for him to think that the Justice League is a kid movie and all other comics, especially Batman is a huge mistake on his part.

And if people are worried that this will effect the heroes' solo movies, I doubt it will. From the sounds of it, Batman's movies will do great even if I'm wrong and JLA isn't good, I haven't seen too many people overjoyed about the thought of a Superman Returns sequel, and as for the other heroes, it's not like those movies are on the fast track.

I don't want it to be a kiddie movie, either. It should be epic since it is seven of the world's greatest heroes together in one movie. I just don't think we should jump the gun just yet. It sounds like a good story to me cuz (I don't know if any of you will know what I'm talking about right here cuz I'm a huge comic as well as movie geek, and I don't know if anyone here reads comics, but anyway...) I've read the comics by Mark Waid where Batman is spying on the League and I've also read Infinite Crisis with Max Lord and Brother Eye (spy sattelite designed by Batman) and the OMACs, and I thought those were great, and this movie seems like a combination of those two stories.
Max Lord is a great villain for the League to fight because he isn't a major villain of any one hero like Luthor or Darksied is to Superman and you could see those two possibly in a Superman movie. And it's all right if there's a love story. It's hard to find a movie that doesn't have some kind of love story in it, even action movies, and with seven heroes on the same team, there's bound to be a love story in there somewhere, just as long as it doesn't take away from the rest of the story.
This movie should be good as long as it's epic, action-packed, and most of all, taken seriously. I think they are trying to make a different kind of movie that all kinds of people will enjoy. I've read that they want to make it LOTR epic, but we'll see.

yes andrewryan you are one of the few dozen people in the world who thinks this movie sounds good. they ahve alot of bad things...one is it should not be a kiddie movie. more adults read comics than kids do...second no love story...this needs to be a high action story...next they need a better criminal to come into the mix. Lex Luthor and Darkseid always works with the Justice League along with Grogg. having Batman spying on the league the way they have him is retarded. the people they have casted is terrible. they need to make a justice league movie thats for sure but not right now. they need to wait for at least Batman to complete the trilogy. I think they shoudl get Bill Nighy as Martian Manhunter he has the build for it and the voice and the intelligence, Christian Bale as Batman, Routh as Superman unless someone better somehow emerges, Michael Jai White as Green Lantern (SInce he does the voice for him in the animated series anyways), Ryan Reynolds is annoying enough and talented enough to play Flash, somehow i think Kate Beckinsale would be good for wonderwoman after her awesome performances in underworld, Aquaman Alan Ritchman did a great job with the character on Smallvile so i think he would be great for the movie.

January 14th, 2008 8:41pm
who r the actors. can any1 tell me.please. then i'll be able to make up my mind.

January 14th, 2008 7:14pm
shut it down, i'd go as far as to say for at least a few more years, not just the end of the strike... maybe then some actors worth the film will surface

January 14th, 2008 4:31pm
I agree they should just shut it down if they are not ready! I don't want to see some cheap "kiddie" movie either!!

Apparently all seven superheroes have been cast, but word is Warners isn't exactly thrilled that they'd be risking upwards of $200 million on such a young crop of names.
Will the project move forward?
Will it get delayed?
Will we ever find out either way?

January 14th, 2008 4:02pm
They should shut it down. I want a JLA movie, just not a "kiddie" movie as it has been described.

January 14th, 2008 2:43pm
start shooting without a script? mmm sounds a bit crazy for this type of film. but i'm all up for superhero movies, and it can't be any worse than DareDevil!
