Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End Is Still Number One Internationally!

Not only did Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End obliterate this weekend's domestic box office for the second week in a row, it also topped out overseas. It took in $105.4 million at 17,500 theaters in 103 countries.

Neither Mr. Brooks nor Knocked Up opened internationally, so the film had no real significant competition. So far, according to Variety, the film has racked up a worldwide cumulative gross of about $625.3 million. That makes it the 29th highest grossing film of all time worldwide.

The film has become the fastest ever to reach an international gross of $400 million. It is only the second film in history to soar past $100 million worldwide in its second weekend. And it is the eight Disney film to top $600 million throughout the globe.

Captain Jack faces fierce competition next weekend, when Ocean's Thirteen opens overseas. Shrek the Third will open soon after.

Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End was released May 24th, 2007 and stars Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush, Orlando Bloom, Keira Knightley, Jack Davenport, Bill Nighy, Jonathan Pryce, Lee Arenberg. The film is directed by Gore Verbinski.
