Before I Forget

Before I Forget

Rated: NONE
Jacques Nolot stars and directs a tale of a downward spiraling gay gigolo, struggling to cope with his advancing age, poverty, loneliness, writers block, and the increasing complications of HIV disease. When his wealthy benefactor dies after thirty years of lavish support, his inheritance is challenged by the benefactor's family, leaving him destitute. Underscoring his every move is the fear of being forgotten, or worse: dying back where he started - on the streets. Young hustlers, drugs, alcohol, and countless cigarettes provide momentary distractions, but ultimately, he must face his inner demons in order to be free of them.

Lost Boys: The Tribe

Lost Boys: The Tribe

Rated: R
The sequel is set in the shady surf city of Luna Bay, California, where vampires quickly dispatch anyone who crosses their path. Into this dark world arrive Chris Emerson and his younger sister, Nicole. Having just lost their parents in a car accident, the siblings move in with their eccentric Aunt Jillian and become new prey for the locals' way of life. When Nicole unwittingly falls for a local vampire, Chris must locate and destroy the gang's lifeline before his sister's transformation is complete; to do this Chris finds himself relying on the expertise of none other than Edgar Frog (Corey Feldman). Subtle references to characters from the original film, and cameos from returning actors offer homage to the Lost Boys legend and set a sinister tone of impending doom.

Cowboy Smoke

Cowboy Smoke

Rated: NONE
"Cowboy Smoke" is a modern day action western that addresses a social issue that's on the tip of everyone's tongue, illegal immigration. When we first meet Joe, a drug-store cowboy type, he's a convenient store clerk who loves his job for one reason, the free standing quick-draw video game there called Cowboy Smoke. After beating the game and subsequently being fired for playing it while on the clock, Joe packs his boots and follows his dreams down to south Texas to learn about real cowboying. Joe's idea of the mythic cowboy is quickly shattered when he comes in contact with the real deal; The first job he is offered is killing illegal Mexican immigrants simply because they are crossing over private property. A few nightmarish twist and turns and Joe finds himself befriending a Texas Ranger who swears by the law yet has trouble practicing it; when Joe asks for help in stopping a truck that is hauling illegal immigrants, the Ranger refuses. His beliefs turned upside down, Joe is ready for anything when approached by a mysterious fugitive offering help and advice. Together the two men take on a dying land baron and his human smuggling ring in an attempt to save a family of illegal immigrants. "Cowboy Smoke" is a modern take on the spaghetti westerns of the 1960's that breaks down the mythic Cowboy one bullet at a time.

Emotional Arithmetic

Emotional Arithmetic

Rated: NONE
"Emotional Arithmetic" tells the story of three people who formed a life-long bond while housed at a detention camp during World War II that are reunited some 35 years later after being separated from one another. Jakob Bronski, a young Jewish man, took a shine to two youngsters, Melanie and Christopher, while they were interred, by the Nazis, at Drancy, a housing complex on the outskirts of Paris that was used as a detention camp for Jews. Drancy operated as a way station; once there, having your name put on the wrong list meant relocation to a death camp. Their separation inflicts deep emotional wounds that grossly impact their lives in differing ways in the years leading up to their life-altering reunion. Now a beautiful woman in her 50's, Melanie Lansing Winters, wife of David Winters, balances her precarious emotional state with an innate sharp, deprecating wit. Jakob, now a senior citizen, is a heroic dissident and veteran of a Soviet psychiatric hospital. And her childhood friend, Christopher Lewis, a British novelist who has long carried a torch for Melanie, is haunted by the eternal question survivors ask themselves - "Why was I saved?" Melanie invites Jakob to stay with her at her home in Canada. Christopher accompanies Jakob there. With Melanie's marriage to David in shambles due to his compulsive infidelity, the pair's presence in the Winters' home revitalizes Melanie, but arouses unexpected reserves of jealousy in David, who is estranged from his and Melanie's grown son, Benjamin, a father himself to a young son, Timmy. On a balmy summer evening, the past explodes into the present in an unexpected and tender love story and its fatal consequences. The 'emotional arithmetic' of the title refers to the characters' struggle to face the past and move on.

In Search of a Midnight Kiss

In Search of a Midnight Kiss

Rated: NONE
"In Search of a Midnight Kiss" is a funny and bittersweet look at love, sex, and modern romance. With an unsold script, no concrete plans, and a love life reduced to getting caught in compromising positions (alone!), a twenty-nine-year aspiring writer, Wilson (Scoot McNairy) just had the worst year of his life. That is until his best friend, Jacob (Brian Matthew McGuire), browbeats him into posting a personal ad for New Year's Eve on Craig's List. When Vivian (Sara Simmonds), a sexy, sarcastic, and seemingly blind-date-from-hell responds, the two strangers embark on an unexpected, chaotic, and hilariously awkward journey through the black-and-white streets of Los Angeles hoping to meet the right one before the stroke of midnight. A truly original love letter to Los Angeles, "In Search of a Midnight Kiss" captures a lost downtown rarely seen on screen along with the hearts of critics and audiences alike.
