The United States Government versus Thomas B. Kin Chong, a/k/a Tommy Chong, the bandana-clad half of stoner comedy duo Cheech & Chong. In 2003 Chong was charged with selling bongs over the internet and sentenced to nine months in federal prison. As part of the government's $12 million drug paraphernalia sting operation, "Operation Pipe Dreams," Chong, a vocal opponent of Bush's handling of the War on Terror, was singled out among 55 defendants to serve time. Filmmaker Josh Gilbert captures the post-prison, avuncular Chong as he turns his arrest-by-SWAT-team into hilarious stand-up material. But our laughs are seasoned by the recognition of our government's questionable priorities and its shameless use of the judicial system to scapegoat a counterculture icon. |

Peter, a psychotherapist, and Suzanne, a professional dominatrix, have been meeting once a week for over two years. In the privacy of a dungeon room in an S & M house, Suzanne delicately pierces, prods and ultimately soothes Peter as they engage in sensual dominance and submission reenactments. Peter's wife Pat knows about her husband's other life, but there is an understanding between them; what happens in the dungeon is relegated to the world of fantasy. Peter and Suzanne, undeniably drawn to each other, agree to see each other on the outside.
Though Suzanne is clearly ambivalent about any sort of physical intimacy, Peter becomes increasingly obsessed with consummating their relationship. The more Suzanne pulls away, the harder Peter finds it to let go. As they meet in coffee shops, bars and restaurants throughout New York City, Peter remembers the erotic "scenes" between them and the relationship these fantasies have to his past. |

Director Patrick Creadon introduces us to this passionate hero, and to the inner workings of his brilliant and often hilarious contributors, including syndicated puzzle creator Merl Reagle. Along the way, the film presents interviews with celebrity crossword puzzlers such as Bill Clinton, Bob Dole, Jon Stewart, Ken Burns, Mike Mussina and the Indigo Girls, who reveal their process, insight and the allure of the game. In addition to deconstructing this uniquely American institution, "Wordplay" takes us though the American Crossword Puzzle Tournament, an annual competition founded by Shortz. As the competitors are introduced and the tournament progresses, it becomes clear that this is more about community and comradery than anything else. |

Leni (Marián Aguilera) arrives home to introduce her fiancé Rafi (Guillermo Toledo) to her Jewish family for the first time. Her mother Gloria (Norma Aleandro), her promiscuous sister Tania (Maria Botto), Tania's contrary 8 year old daughter Paula, her recently orthodox brother David and her blind grandfather Dudu. Everything goes wonderfully until the lovers reveal that Rafi is Palestinian. With his future mother-in-law Gloria unhinged by the news, Rafi tries to ingratiate himself by helping in the kitchen. To make matters worse he accidentally drops the soup he was meant to defrost out the seventh floor window, hitting a pedestrian below. Rafi sneaks downstairs to check on the body and retrieve the soup. Having seen the victim, Rafi rushes upstairs not knowing what to do! As he returns to the kitchen he notices a family portrait of Leni's father, which bears a very close resemblance to the corpse lying outside. |
