Rated:PG-13 In the autumn of 1939, Heinrich Harrer, the famous Austrian mountaineer, and his countryman Peter Aufschnaiter, set out to climb Nanga Parbat, one of the highest peaks in the Himalayas. The self-centered Harrer, whose sole preoccupation was the achievement of fame and glory, would experience an emotional awakening on his fantastic journey that would take him form the heights of conquest to the depths of internment in a British prisoner-of-war camp, then from escape and a harrowing two-year trek through the Himalayas to the mysterious Tibetan city of Lhasa.
As a stranger in a strange land which few westerners have ever visited, Harrer was befriended by the young Dalai Lama, and was asked to tutor the religious leader in English, geography and the ways of the Western world. He would eventually spend seven years in Tibet, during a period of tremendous political upheaval in that country, graced with the friendship and the spiritual enlightenment of the young Dalai Lama. As the deep and abiding bond between these two isolated, lonely people evolved, the selfish and egotistical Harrer experienced selflessness for the first time, allowing him to complete the emotional transformation which began on his way to Lhasa.
Rated:R Divinci (Jim Belushi) and Rodriguez (Tupac Shakur), two detectives at a metropolitan police department, supplement their paychecks with a series of covert drug deals that end in homicide for the unwitting recipients of stolen police evidence drugs. When one of the victims turns out to be an undercover DEA agent, the two cops find themselves embroiled in a downward spiral of deception as they seek to cover up their crime.
Rated:PG The United States' first manned space mission to Mars is approaching its scheduled lift-off, but NASA finds itself T-minus one astronaut, after the flight team's accident-prone rocket scientist is grounded. When astronut Fred Z. Randall (Harland Williams), the ingenious-yet-bumbling designer of the ship's operating system, is chosen to join the mission, the rest of the flight crew is less than thrilled. The closest Fred has gotten to outer space was as a kid, when he pretended to orbit the earth by tumbling around in his mother's clothes dryer during the fluff cycle.
Cocky Commander "Wild Bill" Overbeck (William Sadler); beautiful-yet-humorless Mission Specialist Julie Ford (Jessica Lundy); and precocious space chimp, Ulysses, all doubt Fred. Only grizzled veteran astronaut Bud Nesbitt (Beau Bridges) holds a shred of confidence in Fred's abilities. En route to Mars, all heaven breaks loose as Fred finds himself butting heads with Overbeck, falling hopelessly in love with Julie, and finding life on Mars.
Rated:R Sgt. Dunn (Wayans) is a decorated Gulf War hero who is convicted of killing a superior officer. Sentenced to die in a military prison, he is offered an escape by Lt. Col.
