They spent a lifetime struggling to move away from the mean streets of their neighborhood. But the system stole their dreams, and now four childhood friends are determined to steal them back. As one grapples with the possibility of losing her only child, the foursome find themselves on the edge of desperation. With their world in turmoil and their backs against the wall, they decide to seek their fortune - literally. Virtually overnight, the women spiral into an uncharacteristic world of crime.
Targeting the banks of Los Angeles (the bank robbery capital of the world), Cleo, Stony, Tisean and Frankie rob the city's most vulnerable financial institutions. Flush with cash, they discover that easy money can inch them towards their elusive goal of escaping from the projects - but H can't solve their problems. With the police hot on their trail, breaking out of prison may be easier than busting free from the 'hood. |

Boss of bosses, Vic (Dreyfuss), is crazy - certifiably -- and has been locked up in a mental ward for a spell. In his absence, friends, enemies and cronies have been jockeying for power and position. But now comes the news that they've all been dreading: Vic is getting out.
Returning to find his empire in chaos, Vic seems to want simply to "get the balance back." He knows it's gonna be murder to set things right...he's just not sure whose.
The body count rises as debts are paid and bets are covered. It soon becomes apparent that the only thing crazy about Vic is underestimating him. |

Tom Mullen (Mel Gibson) is a wealthy corporate executive used to mediating tough business deals, and doing things his own way. Along with his beautiful wife Kate (Rene Russo) and son Sean (Brawley Nolte), Tom has all the material trappings of success, including a Fifth Avenue penthouse, an enviable position in New York society and high media visibility. But when the thing he cherishes most_his young son_is abducted by desperate criminals and held for ransom, Tom's world of affluence and privilege comes crashing down. And after an FBI rescue operation fails, he engineers a dangerous countermeasure in a last chance effort to bring his boy back to safety.
With his son's life hanging precariously in the balance, and his wife terrified by the shocking plan, Tom offers an appalling proposal, the response to which could easily result in the loss of his son forever. |
