OMEGA - "the end," i.e., "the final code."

The Omega Code is based on the intriguing premise that scholars have uncovered the key to the Bible Code, an ancient mathematical equation applied to the five books of Moses whose hidden messages are said to contain prophesies for human history. The first suspense thriller for the new millennium, the film pits two powerful and charismatic people in an international race to possess the computer discs, which foretell events and control the world.

Filmed in the world religious capitals of Rome and Jerusalem, "The Omega Code" stars Casper Van Dien, ("The Legend of Sleepy Hollow," "Starship Troopers," "Tarzan and the Lost City,") Michael York ("Austin Powers" I and II, "Logan's Run," "Cabaret,"), Catherine Oxenberg (Dynasty, Charles and Diana) and Michael Ironside ("The Arrangement," "Starship Troopers," "Top Gun").

Michael York portrays European Union Chairman Stone Alexander, a media mogul turned politician, who uncovers and implements the stolen code to create a New World order. Casper Van Dien is Dr. Gillen Lane, a world-renowned motivational speaker and mythology expert who innocently enters Stone's world in a quest for peace. When he uncovers Stone's plans, Lane becomes Stone's adversary, a hunted fugitive as he tries to expose the truth and save the world.

Catherine Oxenberg is Cassandra Barashe, a well-respected journalist and television talk show hostess whose proximity to important people leads her from simply covering the news to becoming part of it. Michael Ironside is Dominic, an ex-priest now bodyguard and personal assistant to Alexander, whose loyalty to the "king" is surpassed only by his own quest for power. In an ancient struggle between good and evil, in the attempt to control the absolute source of domination, all four will learn the ultimate lesson from a supreme force greater than us all.

"The Omega Code" is a fictionalized dramatization of the "end times" prophecies using the Bible Codes as its premise. Noted theologian, author and apocalypse expert Hal Lindsey (The Late Great Planet Earth) served as Biblical prophecy consultant for the project, working to ensure accuracy in areas involving scriptural references or interpretations.

THE BIBLE CODE DECRYPTED

Although the most extensive and persuasive evidence of the existence of the Bible Codes came to public view less than fifteen years ago, the belief in these encrypted messages can be traced to the medieval practitioners of the Kabbalah, a form of Jewish mysticism. They and later Christians also came to believe - and even taught - that some kind of hidden code is woven throughout the original Greek and Hebrew text of the Bible. They believed that unlocking this mystery would lead to a deeper spiritual relationship to God that went beyond the literal text.

Presently, there are two well-researched studies on the Bible Codes. The first is Equidistant Letter Sequences (ELS) or "The Torah Codes." By selecting sequences of equaled spaced letters in a text, Rabbi Weissmandel in 1958 noticed he could find relational word pairs or phrases that could be matched to real events or persons. However, the Rabbi couldn't determine if these were random, or encrypted by God himself while dictating the Torah to Moses on Mount Sinai.

In 1994, the most recent and most respected study on ELS was published in Statistical Science. Three Israeli mathematicians, Professor Elyahu Rips, Doron Mitzu and Yoav Rosenburg, created a highly complex computer program which refined the equidistant letters experiment and determined that the odds of these word pairs and phrases occurring merely by chance were 1 in 50 quadrillion.

The second study on Bible Codes is Theomatics - a composite word created from the Greek "theo," meaning God and the suffix of the word "mathematics." First discovered in 1975, it had its foundation in the ancient study of gematria, whose individual letters of the Hebrew alphabet are assigned numeric values and thereby each word is given a numeric sum, thus purporting a mathematical structure to the Old Testament.
