THE ALCHEMIST (2009)

After I saw the movie based on the book Veronika Decides to Die was going to be announced in 2008, I said to myself; "I wish they'd make The Alchemist into a movie as well"...here, I looked a little further and my wish was granted. Paulo was right...the world is here to answer your wishes.

I am very pleased to see this will be made into a movie. After a few years of my girlfriend urging me to read this, I finally put down my Crichton and Brown novels and squeezed it in. I was so glad I did.

This story is incredible in so many ways. It has a great, uplifting message, intriguing characters and great sense of journey. You become attached to the main character, and almost feel as if you are guiding him while you read. The only bad part about this book was the fact that it ended.

I hope Laurence does it justice; I have no doubt he is capable, and will be very interested to see how this project develops.
