How does that saying go? Oh yes. Everything old is new again. This seems to be the case in films these days as well. Old characters are being brought out of the closet, dusted off and revived. Alvin, Simon, and Theodore, aka The Chipmunks are back, better than ever.
In a combination live action/CGI movie the three furry little friends make the big screen light up. Jason Lee plays Dave Seville, and the film puts all the pieces together about how they all ended up together with the trio singing and Dave managing their careers.
As they become a family, Alvin (the self-proclaimed "awesome-ist" one, Simon (the smart one), Theodore (the sweetest one), and Dave learn about fame and most important of all, love.
Alvin, Simon and Theodore have been beloved by several generations. Their charm has delighted people for decades and with this new film they prove that a sweet little film filled with sweet little characters can stand up against all the blood and guts, shootings, space epics and all the other big hits. This film is multi-generational. It's for everyone. The younger kids will get acquainted with the gang, and older kids and adults will get re-acquainted with them. This is definitely a great movie for people 3-93!
Baby boomers will remember the hit songs "The Chipmunk Song "(Christmas Don't be Late) and "Witch Doctor." Yes, this film includes Ooo, eee, ooo, ahh, ahh, ting, tang, walla, walla, bing bang! How could we ever forget that little ditty? And yes, Alvin still wants his hula hoop for Christmas.
Simon is the thinker of the group, Alvin is the angelic little devil, and Theodore is the sensitive one. And through the film Dave, who really doesn't know how to be a family man or care for anyone, comes to love the chipmunks. They all become one adorable and furry family. After all, what makes a family any way? Love. And they have plenty of that.
This is the best holiday film of the year. It's the best family film of the year because both young and old and middle-aged will enjoy it equally. What a great delight. It's really a must-see for everyone and the perfect holiday treat.
