"It's 24 Carat entertainment. And Kate Hudson shines, as always!"

- Francine Brokaw
(3/5 Stars)
Tess (Kate Hudson) has just divorced Ben "Finn" Finnegan (Matthew McConaughey) who is a perennial child. Tess intends on returning to Chicago to complete her Ph.D., but she once again becomes entangled in one of Finn's treasure hunts and her dreams go up in smoke as she settles into the Caribbean to hunt for the lost treasure that has been the goal of the couple for several years. Unfortunately, when Finn finally gets his big break and discovers a piece of the treasure, he is not alone. The local gangster is hot on his heels, or flippers, as they both set off to locate the jewels and gold that has been under the ocean since 1715.

Hudson and McConaughey regain the chemistry that made their last pairing in How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days a fun film. "It was great to come into this and already have that comfort zone with Matthew," says Hudson. She claims, "There's really not a mean bone in his body." About his stunning co-star McConaughey says, "Chemistry is more about what goes on between the lines than what goes on during the lines and, for whatever reason, it seems to work between us. Kate has a special sparkle that's very easy to be attracted to." And Kate does sparkle in this film.

Audiences might be interested to know that while the film is set in the Caribbean, due to weather concerns they actually filmed it in Australia. Just a little tidbit of information for you before you see the movie.

Finn gets smacked on his head more times than I could count during this film. While he is trying to avoid the gangsters, he is also trying to lure back his former wife. The couple is assisted in the treasure hunt by a millionaire (Donald Sutherland) and his ditsy daughter (Alexis Dziena).

Granted this is not an Academy award winning movie, but it's a fun film for January. It's 24 Carat fun. And Kate Hudson shines, as always!
