"It is a bit confusing as audience members need a score card to keep track of everyone and what they did in the past. The one character who steals every one of his scenes however is - the monkey!"
With the age of piracy nearing an end, it is up to the pirate captains to save their fate. And among the new captains is Elizabeth Swann. All the old characters return in this third installment that, quite frankly, doesn't live up to the original film. It is long (about 2 hours 45 minutes) and the audio is not crisp, making the words garbled at times. It is also a bit confusing as audience members need a score card to keep track of everyone and what they did in the past. If you're a die-hard Pirates fan you will, however, thoroughly love this film. Otherwise, you might find it confusing and more flash than content.
The special effects are incredible, making this a true E-Ticket ride. It's got more heart pounding zip than the ride from which this series was taken.
Returning in this third film are Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp), Will Turner (Orlando Bloom), Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley), Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush), Bootstrap Bill (Stellan Skarsgard), Davy Jones (Bill Nighy), James Norrington (Jack Davenport), Governor Swann (Jonathan Pryce), Tia Dalma (Naomie Harris), Lord Becket (Tom Hollander), and others who join several new characters in this swashbuckling, cannon firing, scheming tale. However, the one character who steals every scene is - the monkey!
Conniving, treachery, evil and hope all come together in this story of pirates, history, love and the future. What lies in store for these characters in this film that takes them from the world of the dead to the world of the living is a rocky ride. Fasten your seat belts. This is a true action adventure filled with sci-fi fantasy that will probably have true Pirates fans enjoying every minute.
Unfortunately, if you are not up to date on all the pirate history from the other films, you might feel like a fish out of water as you definitely do need to know what happened in the past in order to enjoy this story. This is not a stand-alone movie.
"If you've enjoyed the past two Pirates films, you'll be satisfied with "At World's End." It offers unabashed fun, cheap laughs and high seas adventure that can't be matched. It's only fault? It's no "Return of the Jedi," no matter how hard it tries to be." ByAdam Frazier
"Vastly superior to last year's lousy Dead Man's Chest, Pirates 3 is thematically one of the darkest films to be released under the Disney banner." ByJulian Roman
"Despite its shortcomings and oft-bulky storyline, the third 'Pirates of the Caribbean' is an enjoyable and satisfying ride from beginning to World's End." ByTimothy M. Bruderek
