Bees are amazing. They fly, they pollinate, they sting, and they make honey. Bees are perhaps the best organized society of all the living creatures on the globe. This story is about one bee, Barry B. Benson (Jerry Seinfeld) who just graduated from school and is about to take his place in the society performing one job for the rest of his life. But that doesn't sit well with Barry. He doesn't want to be stuck doing one job. He's a curious little guy with a lot of heart.
One day Barry ventures out of the hive. Even though the ultimate rule for bees is not to talk to humans, Barry can't help but start a conversation with a florist named Vanessa (Renee Zellweger) who just saved his life. They become friends and their relationship leads to something no one ever dreamed of.
When Barry realizes that humans enslave bees and steal all the honey, he takes action. Yep, he does what humans are known for. He sues! What else?
This animated film is the brainchild of Seinfeld who thoroughly enjoyed his first foray into animation. The characters are delightful and the story is adorable. Audiences will be falling in love with little Barry B. Benson. He's so cute that Seinfeld is a little concerned that kids will want to start playing with real bees. "I'm worried about a lot of kids seeing bees after the movie and trying to go pet them."
As audiences discover in the film, everything is connected and that is one message Seinfeld hopes people understand after seeing the show. Barry Benson sues the humans for taking the honey, but what would happen if there were no bees doing what they do best? The consequences of not having bees pollinate flowers and produce honey effects the entire planet.
