"It's a great underdog film. If you want an enjoyable movie, this is it."

- Francine Brokaw
(4/5 Stars)
Dennis (Simon Pegg) gets cold feet and leaves his pregnant fiancé Libby (Thandie Newton) at the alter. Now, forward five years and he is living a carefree life as a security guard in a lingerie store while keeping in contact with his son and Libby. But when he discovers Libby's boyfriend Whit (Hank Azaria) is getting too close to his family, Dennis tries to impress her and win her back. He finally realizes he made a big mistake by not marrying Libby and being a full-time father to their son.

Whit is a successful man who takes on impressive extra-curricular activities. He takes Dennis along to one of his spinning classes where Dennis realizes he is definitely not as fit as his adversary. And when he learns Whit is entered in the upcoming marathon for charity, Dennis, not being the kind to take things lightly, decides to enter the marathon himself and show Libby he can finish the race. He has no delusions that he can win, he only wants to complete the 26 miles. No one, including Whit, thinks Dennis will be able to finish. He only has a few days to prepare and to say he's not in good physical shape is an understatement.

When Whit, a wealthy man, proposes to Libby and Dennis realizes she and their son will have another obstacle between them, his resolve deepens and Dennis knows he cannot quit. He knows he has to remain resolute and train hard. He desperately loves Libby and his son, and feels this is his last hope of getting them back. But training and running proves to be much more difficult than he ever imagined.

Filled with humorous scenes and some fun episodes, Run Fat Boy, Run is a great underdog film. It might even entice couch potatoes to start running. Well, maybe not. Dennis encounters jock itch, injuries, pain, raw eggs, and early mornings, which are all turn-offs for him, but he learns what is important and sets his eyes on the finish line - and his family.

If you want an enjoyable movie, this is it. It was directed by Friends alum David Schwimmer and is filled with plenty of chuckles and fun.
