Zombieland: Review By AvalleAJ

In a lot of zombie movies, we watch as the zombies take over, and the people in the town have to take refuge and fight them off. In 'Zombieland,' it's a post-apocalyptic world, and the zombies have already done their damage. The beginning gives us a little glimpse of the world before as Jesse Eisenberg explains the first four rules that he uses to survive.

After a pretty sweet slow motion opening sequence, we meet Jesse Eisenberg who plays a young guy, lonely but lovable, traveling across the country in hopes to find his parents in Colombus, Ohio. He liked being alone before the zombies attacked, but now, he kind of misses people. Luckily, he runs into Woody Harrelson who drives up in this SUV with a snow plow on the front to push to the side anything that gets in his path, including zombies. Immediately, he comes off as intimidating, and Eisenberg's character is terrified. This is the first guy who isn't a zombie that he's seen in a while, and it had to be the toughest looking one out there. Harrelson's character is the one that decides they are going to call each other by their destinations instead of real names. It keeps them from getting to familiar. Eisenberg=Colombus, and Harrelson=Tallahassee. They eventually run into scam artists Wichita and Little Rock, two sisters who are going to do anything they can to survive.

The story is exaclty how I would want it to be. It's simple. Four people traveling through a zombie infested world, and the reason i like it so much is because it seems real. I felt like this is what a zombie apocalypse would actually be like if it were just a few people. Instead of cowering in fear in some building, they travel around, and they do whatever they want because who is going to stop them? That's what I would do! With the exception of Abigail Breslin, the acting is great. The casting was perfect. There couldn't have been a better person to play Colombus or Tallahassee. Emma Stone plays a love interest for Colombus, but Colombus is really the only one interested.

I think that it'd be hard to hate this movie, especially if you like zombie movies. The cameo by Bill Murray is amazing and fun, and at the same time kind of upsetting. Other than films like 'Dawn of the Dead,' this movie takes the zombie apocalypse down a notch on the seriousness scale, and becomes more of a fun version of how I , personally, would like the zombie apocalypse to be. If you want to know how to survive the zombie attack, watch the first 3 minutes, but if you want to enjoy yourself before the zombies get her, finish the movie.
