It should be said right off that I am quite a fan of our Mr. Jim Carrey. Unfortunately for those of us who truly appreciate his special brand of physical, facial, and verbal humor, he has done nothing inspiring lately.

Oh, sure, his voice acting was just fine in the fun and family friendly "Horton Hears a Who," and I enjoy his serious side ala "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind." I probably shouldn't even mention "Fun With Dick and Jane," but I guess I just did. Let's leave it at that shall we.

Though I liked the aforementioned films just fine, they didn't inspire the kind of gut busting and memorable scenes I had grown fond of after seeing what I consider to be, his "good" flicks.

Of course I am speaking of "Liar Liar," (probably his last really good one) "Cable Guy," "Bruce Almighty," "Dumb and Dumber," "Ace Ventura," etc...

Seeing the trailer for "Yes Man," two things happened simultaneously. First, I got excited because Jim was finally making a new flick and it wasn't serious OR animated. Second, I got nervous because I didn't want to be excited, just to end up being let down if the movie sucked.

Imagine my pleasure when I ended up laughing with extreme regularity while watching it. This flick is not quite as good on an all-around scale as, say, "Liar Liar," but I feel like that was such a strong film that topping it would take some serious hoodoo.

If you liked "Bruce Almighty," I would suggest seeing "Yes Man." The overall enjoyment I got out of this newest offering from Jim Carrey was about equal with how "Bruce Almighty" made me feel. Its funny, it has heart, and I breathed a sweet sigh of relief in knowing that Jim's still got it.
