Before there was Sam Raimi's Spider-Man, there were Bryan Singer's X-Men, and while Blade was Marvel's first big venture into Hollywood for a new generation, X-Men set the stage for the modern-day super hero movie--and then X2 capitalized on everything about that. It's largely debated what is the greatest super hero movie of all time, and the two contenders I usually see when the smoke clears is The Dark Knight and Spider-Man 2, which is completely understandable...but X2 ranks pretty high up on the list as well. Like TDK and Spidey 2, or any great sequel, it improves upon the first installment in nearly every way possible. Singer establishes a tone with this movie that's reminiscent of other sequels--including the ones I mentioned, and even Empire Strikes Back, which is the blueprint for more mature follow ups--and in the process feels like a completely different film from its predecessor. X2 not only increases the action--who can forget the opening Nightcrawler attack on the White House, or Wolverine vs. Deathstrike, or my favorite and still one of the best moments in comic book movie history, Logan's berserker rage during the raid on the mansion?--it also presents deep character relationships (Rogue's inability to be able to touch her boyfriend, Bobby; the complex relationship between Erik and Charles; the love triangle between Logan, Scott, and Jean; and Pyro's inner conflict with himself as he struggles with which side he's on). This character development is the driving force behind the movie, and the special effects only keep it fun. X2 is smart, stylish, and action-packed, but more than that, it asks us a heated question: whose side are you on?

@mattbierwagen I won't be getting lazy...when I actually write reviews. It's just been a busy time for me with hs graduation right around the corner. But when I do write reviews, I'll give it my all.
Thanks everyone else. I tried putting as much info into 7 sentences as possible...hopefully it didn't seem cluttered. I guess it didn't seem that way for @diaigma haha Thanks, man.
