So, I received my blu-ray copy of X-Men: First Class in the mail Friday, and i was so excited to watch it since it has been such a stormy afternoon where I live. Soon as I loaded up the disc in my Sony 3D compatibility blu-ray player, it wouldn't play! Nothing. I tried this 10 times and it just wouldn't load for me :( I went on Amazon and read the reviews; other people have also posted that their BD was defective as well. It seems that the blu-ray disc has some difficulties playing on certain blu-ray players. It will NOT work on my Samsung player and does not work on ANY Samsung player as others have said. It only seems to work on Sony players that are not 3D blu-ray compatible and Playstation 3's after you disable BD-Live. Evidently X-Men: First Class doesn't play on all Blu-ray players (most notably some of the 3D players and Samsung)so be aware that until they develop firmware updates it will be a problem for some players. If any of you are also having this problem, please let me know so we can discuss about it below. This looks to be a major "problem" for Fox, I've even heard that some Target stores haven't even gotten their shipments in yet! hopefully, it will be fixed soon.
@ghostman I'm currently saving up for a Mac Pro so, won't be buying new Blu stuff for a while, plus, my PS3 got the light of death thing. Light went from green to orange to beeping red
There exist four rulers in this world: Gods, Humans, Vampires and Werewolves. The Question is, who do you think is above the food chain?
@bawnian-dexeus I made a few films in high school before (mainly school projects) i'm real good with editing and visualizing how a scene is shot. So, I think in my future career, I'll be a Cinematographer and/or Editor for films.
@ghostman This may sound corny and geeky, but for some crazy reason, there's a chance you, me, and a few other's here might work together in the future

You said it exactly right!! I had the same problem last night with my copy that I bought from Walmart here in Logansport. IN. I also tried at least 10 times on my Sony player to play the disc I bought on release morning and waited all day to watch! Talked about frustrated!! I went to rent it, no copies left. I finally went back to Walmart and asked the Mgr if they'd heard anything about it yet, but word hadn't gotten out yet 12:00 last night, so I bought the DVD. (I have to complete my collection of the series) Can I return it if I have my reciept?
Sorry to hear that @Zak-Lee-Ferguson I think it has to do with Sony updating their firmware so the PS3 can play 3D blu-rays. I do know for a fact that the X-Men disc will not work on any Samsung player for sure. Maybe something went wrong when they were coding the disc :/ But, we'll wait and see if Thor blu-ray works next week.
@bawnian-dexeus@Zak-Lee-Ferguson I fixed the problem! All you need to do is erase your BD Data folder from the player menu, and do a system re-start. It works perfectly for me know! yay, I'm so excited! :D
Same thing happened to me. I bought it last night and it didn't play at all. I took it back to Best Buy this morning and exchanged it for another thinking it was the disc, but the new one didn't work either. I played it on my PS3 and Laptop that has a bluray player and neither worked.
I'm not sure how to disable BD-Live on my PS3 and not sure if that would make any difference here?
I'm having the same problem too. I bought mine at Walmart, the 2-Disc Blu-Ray. Got home tried playing it on my Samsung Blu-Ray Player, got nothing. Updated the firmware to the latest update that Samsung released, now I get a red menu saying Blu-Ray Player needs software update to play this disc. I don't want to take it back and trade it in for a dvd, but I don't want to wait forever for them to fix this problem.
Had same problem on my 60gb PS3. Erased the BD Utility and it started playing, Wish I knew about that Friday! and DVD is only better for cheapskates; a minor problem like this doesn't take away from blu! and soo happy I didn't go back to Best Buy. Im glad for this discussion.
