Zola Taylor (Halle Berry) fell a tiny bit in love with Frankie Lymon (Larenz Tate) the first time she saw him perform onstage. When he was singing, he was working magic with the audience, and it worked on Zola, too. She was beautiful, and a successful singer in her own right with the top-ranked group The Platters, but Frankie was something else -- a star.
