*NOTE-This is from a news article from Patton's official website*
"You may already be aware that Paula Patton is reported to have been cast in the role of antagonist Witch Boom in the upcoming sequel, Who Framed Roger Rabbit 2. However, this movie has certainly been a long time coming - here's a brief overview of the production story so far.
The original Who Framed Roger Rabbit was actually released back in 1988, and combined live action and animation. Of course, you might suspect that Paula Patton might be used to voice a reboot of the character of Jessica Rabbit, the bewitching supper club singer, who was often seen wearing dazzling dresses and the type of diamond rings at 77Diamonds.com, as well as plenty of other glamorous attire.
However. This is not the role in which she is believed to have been cast, and instead Patton is set to star as Witch Boom.
The original movie was a huge success, and received an overwhelmingly positive critical reception, prompting plans for a sequel soon afterwards. The movie which then went into production was actually a prequel titled Toon Platoon, which told the story of Roger Rabbit's early years. Steven Spielberg was attached to direct but dropped out, and a re-write of the script was commissioned in 1997. Alan Menken also wrote a collection of songs for the movie, whilst Eric Goldberg came on board as the director of animation.
Test footage for this movie was filmed during 1998, and this was when the project came to a halt. The mix of CGI, traditional animation and live-action did not please Disney. The mix of visual techniques was no longer considered impressive, and to convert all the animated characters to CGI would have cost the studio in excess of $100 million.
The production was cancelled until 2007, when producer and director Frank Marshall revealed that he was still open to the idea. The writers if the original movie, Jeffrey Price & Peter S. Seaman, were then called in to put together a new script, which many of the cartoon sequences being put together digitally. In 2010, the movie's original associate producer, Don Hahn, confirmed the sequel, with Patton being cast shortly afterwards."
Monkeyiron no more.....but Monkeyiron 2.0 Mutha fucka
Ironically, I have to tag everyone for this comment, but I just want to get the word out.
Does anyone else agree that maybe we should let up a little bit on the tagging in private forums unless it's important news or something? I dont think we need to tag every single person to let them know that a private forum is active or that someone has recently reviewed a film or that they have a wishlist for the following year.
Trust me, the way I look at it is that we will find it on our own if we are interested. All one has to do is go into the forums section to see what people are talking about.
However, by all means, tag me if you have some cool movie news or links to trailers or something that otherwise may not be on the site because I love that stuff! Also, tag me if the movie forum is actually relevant to me, personally. Otherwise, I feel it's getting a bit overused.
Basically, I think we should keep tags relevant and interesting. Just a thought for the new year.
@SpaceCowboy - because it was available and relevant at the time. I had already been mentioned in this one 4 times and I hadn't even written anything in it, not to mention about ten thousand other forums over the past couple days, none of which really interested me. I was too lazy to start a new one.
The first one was an instant classic and changed the world of CGI forever, now your free to laugh wen i say we wouldnt have avatar without Roger Rabbit. now a 2nd one is coming?? please do not mess up the memory of the first!!
Roger Rabbit is possibly one of the best childrens films ever created- and to get the access to DISNEY and Waner Bro's is beyond imaginable- but to set out and do that in this day and age- what with battle of the rights- i will be flummoxed!
