Don't let the established (and hot) cast fool you on the cover of this one. I thought... Ethan Hawke and Mark Ruffalo... can't be too bad. I was wrong.

"What Doesn't Kill You" is based on a true story, telling the tale of two who grow up living a life of small-time crime. Brian (Mark Ruffalo) and Paulie (Ethan Hawke) work in a mob-style business in Boston, beating folks up, robbing drug dealers and stealing truck shipments. A Boston police officer (co-writer Donnie Wahlberg) catches them in the middle of a robbery, forcing them to serve time in jail. This puts a huge strain on Brian's relationship with his family, and he must deicde if he continues down the path of crime, drugs and alcohol, or if he should give it all up for his family.

All and all, the movie dragged out with a pretty anti-climatic ending. 1 star for Mark Ruffalo's efforts in getting buffed out for this one.
