This movie is the cinematic biography of our President G. W. Bush. In a lot of ways, the movie tries to sympathize with the character who undergoes a life-long struggle to measure-up to the values of his family. Kindled by firey politics, this portrayal proves to be a showcase, however cynical, of what it means to have the most difficult job in the world. It chronicles the life of our forty-third President of the United States from his wild college days and fraternity mindset, to local politics and growth into the governor of Texas. The famous quote seems to be an undercurrent as the director attempts to reveal his inner-torment...

"If our country does not lead the cause of freedom, it will not be led. If we do not turn the hearts of children toward knowledge and character, we will lose their gifts and undermine their idealism. If we permit our economy to drift and decline, the vulnerable will suffer most."

Overall though, this movie was a deliberately scathing story-like doc*mentary spanning the years of his Presidentcy to date. It blames the lack of his leadership, and superoptimistic approach to world affairs for our current situation on the world scene. The actors in the star-studded cast were spectacular, and their loose presentation of select facts were highly entertaining for those who enjoy the portrayal of political drama. There were many points in the movie, where 'dream-like' sequences take on the metaphors of his life. The subtle keynote failures, at being respected as his father, the at times troubling dynamic within his family, as well as the epic comedy of errors in his role of being President; all blended with real-life video, and then into a single closing frame, having to keep 'an eye on the ball' so-to-speak, as it goes over the fence. I wondered if the director was making a statement, about how being President can sometimes get you in 'over your head', a possible reference to our President's Texas baseball franchise. I personally recommend seeing this movie as a matter of historical political interest.

We live in a changing world. This movie is a first for our country. The first movie done about a President, who is still in office. It's also the reason why the director and all involved in this movie, held some back from a full-on attack it could've been, unchecked by conscience.
