I know a joke. A squirrel tells a tree "I forgot to store nuts in you for the winter, and now I am dead." It is funny because the squirrel gets dead.
#4: Toy Story
#3: Monsters Inc.
#2: Up (the film I am currently reviewing)
#1: The Incredibles
Well, I couldn't do it anymore, I hope you forgive me. And if you don't, I don't care, because I did what I want. Well, Up is Pixar's best film since The Incredibles, and has the 2 cutest Pixar character ever, behind Boo from Monsters Inc.
So, the film starts out with a young adventure loving boy named Carl. He meets an adventure loving girl named Ellie. They eventually get married in a wordless sequence where you see their hardships, and how no matter what happened, they had each other. Yeah, it's pretty friggin' deep, and it actually made me cry. The only other animated movie to ever do that was Dumbo, and this shows that Pixar films are the next Disney animated classics.
Fast forward to modern times. Carl is now a widow in a neighborhood being run down to build a giant super-block of shops and restaurants. After Carl assualts one of the construction workers (in the second Pixar scene to show blood), he is forced to move into a retirement home, but Carl does not give in. He ties thousands of balloons onto his house, and floats away to South America.
But like many movies there is a catch. Carl has an 8-year old stowaway boy-scout on board named Russell. The film concerns their awesome adventure through South America. Along the way, they meet the second cutest Pixar character ever. This is Dug, the dog who is allowed to speak through a special collar, and he is steals the show. He is so adorable, you just want to hug him, because he is so cute.
So, I would say Up is the second best film of the year, after Watchmen. It is a must see, and reminds everyone of how great the folks at Pixar are-Squirrel!
