United 93: Review By Moviejunkie4

This is a masterful and heartbreaking film, and it does honor to the memory of the victims.

This narrative film based on actual events uses the doc*mentary-style approach to depict the confusion and heroism of September 11, 2001. The film is made of two pieces. The first half, director Paul Greengrass takes us into the control towers of the New York area, showing the build up of confusion and frustration that leads to mistakes and slow action. I call it the "you're actually right there" experience. The second half takes place aboard the plane United 93 and combines actual events with imagined ones. The film is powerful in it's approach and the expected ending is both upsetting and uplifting at the same time. The only ones I would not recommend United 93 to are those whose lives have been wrecked by 9/11 and are not ready or able to once again confront that day.
