The cast includes up and comers Josh Duhmal (Transformers), and Melissa George (30 Days Of Night) giving solid and believable performances with realistic reactions to the events in the film they feel both authentic and likable. Another huge differance from Hostel is the fact that these peopel aren't troublemakers they don't smoke drugs or constantly have sex they aren't dirty teens like the ones featured in Hostel you can honestly say to yourself these people don't deserve this.
The movie is all suspense very little gore in fact out of a very small body count for a slasher film very few people get murdered there are a considerable amount of survivors and the victims who do die don't die in predictable or over the top, gore filled ways. The film is far more intense and eerie than either of Eli Roth's Hostel films i really don't get why every critic is comparing the two.
The movies flaws lie in the fact that it is too short and unfortunatly the deaths aren't spread out well at all. Another flaw is the music it is there but feels non existant and adds nothing to the overall picture however music isn't needed as the film intends a very "real life"look and feel much like The Blair Witch Project without all the shaky camera work. The visuals are beautiful due to most of the film taking place in a jungle and surprisingly underwater which is for some odd reason effective and only adds to the suspense perhaps because it slows the chase down. In the end Turista's is quite flawwed but for a slasher it is great fun and genuinly suspenseful without being overly gorey plus the fresh faces in the cast are an added bonus. Reccomended to horror fans and those contemplating whether or not to see Hostel.
