The perfect summer movie popcorn action flick!
The story focuses on a boy and his car who just happens to be a Transformer, who with the help of his Autobot freinds must defeat Megatron and the Decepticons from destroying earth by geting their hands on the powerful AllSpark Cube.
Back in 2007 over the summer, Transformers blasted into theaters across the globe. I was around 14 at the time, and it was on a hot summer day that I grabbed a Slurpee from 7-Eleven, ate some McDonald's then went to see an afternoon showing of The-Must-See-Movie-of-the-Summer, Transformers.
The lights dimmed down and the action began! First off, Shia LaBeouf is a really funny kid--at that time before he got older and was in every Steven Spielberg movie (Disturbia, Eagle Eye, Indiana Jones) where he was that annoying irratating teenage prick. But yeah, his improve and sarcastic humor with some charisma made for a pretty funny guy. Then we have Megan Fox, i'm sure you can imagine what was happening to every teenage boy when they saw her bending over that Camaro, she was basically eye-candy and had little to no dialogue and when she did speak, no one paid attention to what the hell she said. Good job Michael Bay, you have proved that men don't listen to hot girls when they talk.
Next we have the main title stars of the movie, the Autobots; the one good thing about Transformers is that the visual effects are unlike anything I've seen at that time, and they looked so real, you'll might as well of believed that Transformers actually existed. Peter Cullen voicing Optimus Prime since he was the oringinal voice actor for the animated series and has been ever since the 80's was a great casting choice. And what actor should voice the evil Megatron? none other than The Matrix's own Hugo Weaving! Yes the Red Skull himslef, voices the Decepticon leader.
Let's not forget about the action, the main reason why all of us guys went to see this movie for (or was it because Megan Fox was in it?) Anyways, Michael Bay knows his action, for crying out loud he's the James Cameron of action movies! From military base attacks, and epic car chases with free-way battles to a climatic showdown in Downtown L.A. Transformers is the definition of pure summer entertainment. Transformers has everything you can ask for: girls, humor, cars, explosions, and more explosions! Only thing missing is the story...well it's really just a story that only a 13-year old teenager can comprehend, but it's their hidden behind all the crazy action.
