Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen: Review By LEO: Lord Epsilon Omega

Robots are coming down from space all over the place, and some are hitting where they wanted to land and others are missing.

Righ off the bat, I felt this movie was awesome, and even though it's not as good as it's predecessor, it was still good nonetheless. It took everything that we love from the first movie and added new elements, giving it a sense of fresh air, even though it was flawed in a couple areas.

The story was very well thought out, even if it did have some flaws. What I liked was the combination of story elements from the original cartoon movie, Transformers Energon, and new original ideas. With these combined, it created a story that was familiar yet pleasantly unexpected at the same time. But there are some lose ends that needed to tie up. There are a few, but a couple examples I will bring up are,...

!* WARNING! SPOILERS! DO NOT READ THE NEXT PARAGRAPH IF YOU HAVE NOT SEEN THE MOVIE! *!

... what happened to Arcee and the other motorcycle autobots? You just see a bunch of decepticon shots carpet bomb the guys, then you don't see them for the rest of the movie! What happened to them? And what about the Twins? They fought valiantly and surprisingly well against Devastator, and then they just disappear for the rest of the movie?! What the heck, man?!

But there are many more flaws that I spotted that needed attention. I could tell that Michael Bay needed to slow down and look at the script again before they went into production, but he didn't. So the main story was good, but the details were seriously flawed.

The acting was good and even made for some great comic relief at times. Unfortunately, it seems that all the humans were there for was comic relief. The robots were really the only good actors of the movie, and the humans were pretty cheesy. Exept for Josh Duhammel! He was some great talent. But other than him, it seemed that the only time the humans ever seemed important to the acting was when they were supposed to be funny. And as for seriousnesss... well, it needed work.

Bravo on the acting though, robot actors. You pulled it off perfectly.

Then there was the directing, under the man known as Michael Bay. Bay, here's a message for you, and take it from me. I know what I'm talking about. You have a ton of talent within you, waiting to explode, but you're not letting it out! Sure, you're letting a good portion leak out, but you're not showing your full potential. You need to calm down, step back and think about what you're doing in a movie before you do it. Like this one for example. For the next Transformers, slow down and go over the story and acting with a fine-tooth comb before you call it done, alright?

But what Bay did get right was an awesome story and good robot actors. But next time, he needs to focus on details and human actors to balance things out.

But then we get to the visuals. PERFECT. Once again, Bay has shined in the field where he shines most... special effects. If this movie doesn't win some kind of special effects award, then I will be furious.

So in the end, Transformers 2 was a great movie with some work needed, and I still look forward to the third film with high anticipation.
