NO SPOLERS!!!! (kinda, just plot and info)
I'm writing this review with surprise satisfaction and contentment as I just got to watch what I was sure to disappoint me to the fullest and I was dead WRONG!
Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was going to be in my eyes a huge disappointment, and let me explain why. I am one of the very few people who was utterly disgusted with the first movie. It had a plot/plots (4 if I'm correct) that did not tie in all the characters cohesively and made not to much sense as to the severity of the story. It was centered around humans and not so much the Transformers. The dialog between bot to bot was few and far between letting the plot develop by nonsense dialog with lame characters like the analysts and the Sector 7 nonsense. The humor was horrible and really made it seem more silly than serious. The death of Megatron was huge too. I thought that was the end for him and I was very pissed to say the least. Thank god Bay brought him back though, that was what gave me the nerve to watch this new installment. I watched the first movie about 5 more times because I wanted to like it, but I could not bring myself to like it. That being said....
Revenge of the Fallen is a triumph for Transformer fans old and new. This is the exact movie that needed to be made to show the extent of the Transformers, their universe, their origins, motives, feelings, and any other developing qualities. The conversation and interaction between robots was spliced perfect and allowed the focus of the story involving past and present robots to show the weight of the situation and unfold progressively and had a healthy pace to it. All was done in a forgiving and "epic" fashion. Meaning with the humor that Bay feels he has to add to his movies, it never really detracts much feeling as it did in the first movie. It also had a much more serious and slightly darker feel to it. The events happening to the characters were far more gripping than in the first.
The movie is based around 2 things. Sam finds a piece of the allspark and his contact with it encrypts directions to an ancient power source used by robots that were on earth before. This points us in the direction of the antagonist and his motives. The Fallen, a mythical robot of the Prime lineage in ancient times who betrayed the Primes due to his own self interests due to how the bots searched the universe for energy (Energon) for them to survive. Fast forward about couple thousand years and the Fallen with Megatron are working to harvest the energon from the earth and need the directions in Sams head. See everything is tied together nicely! We see the relationship between Megatron and The Fallen and see the caste system withing the Decepticons. Along with the “Prime” history lesson we hear about key principals followed by the ancient robots. This back story shines some light on the sympathy towards people it delves further into why Optimus Prime has such a strong conviction of not hurting humans and his motives etc. It also gives us a good understanding of what being a Prime means. Under the main story, we see a subplot love story between Sam and Mikaela left from the first film and we see their relationship develop. Both stories are well written and actually evoke some emotion throughout the move as you begin to feel invested in the relationships with the humans to humans, humans to robots, and robots to robots. I do not want to go into the full story because I feel the movie would and does do better than any written or word of mouth report.
Along with the original cast of Autobots and Decepticons (minus barricade???), we get some new faces in the mix. The key players in the plot get screen time and development and that was all that really mattered. The new Decepticons didn't need much introduction. There is a satellite decepticon and we see what he does right away so no need to explain, and the constructions help construct things (i.e. Megatron and Devestator) so they get there point across well. We see some interesting new bots on the bad guy side but they serve there purpose without back story. One of the most interesting and awesome things in the movie I though was the relationship between Megatron and Starscream. I was so happy Bay decided to show how back and fourth it is between the two egos'. The Autobots get new guys too but we see mostly Bumblebee and Optimus because of the relationship they have with Sam. The twins are the comic relief in the movie and they were not annoying at all. People saying that showing them with I guess a more “urban” vernacular is racist is so stupid. Jazz was like that in the first and nobody was upset about that so people need to pull there thumb out of there ass and enjoy the movie.
The fighting is insane and that is putting it lightly. Every confrontation between Decepticons and Autobots is huge. The battle in the forest with Optimus vs. about half the Decpeticons is so beyond gnarly its sick. That fight also sets the tone for the rest of the movie.
All and all, this movie was the sh*t. It had everything that anyone could have asked for. PLUS, we get a nice “Baywatch” moment with Megan Fox and her boobies so HELL YEAH!!!! Go see this damn movie cuz it really is good. I saw it at midnight and I'm gonna go at least one more time. Thank you Michael Bay, for bringing me back into the Transformers universe.

Good review. I am one of those people who loved the first on and thought this one was just okay, but I still like Michael Bay a lot and I think he can and will do much better with the third installment. Check out my ideas for Transformers 3 on my profile and tell me what you think. Thanks!

Not bad. Sounds like they are done with the origins story and getting to the meat. That's what a sequel should be. Even though RT has rated this really low, I still want to see it, badly.
