Fast Forward to 2009:
Call it blasphemy, but the buck should have stopped with the ending credits of the first film.
Transformers: ROTF promotes itself as a large budget, 2 and a half hour, car commercial, and/or music video (take your pick), and I felt that the explosions, action, and gunfire should be served best cold next to a decent storyline. Granted we know the characters from the first, with this as a continuation in form, yet the new characters either added insult to injury, or just simply were not interesting enough. Even the humor in the film felt they were trying too hard. The ending was a little overboard, on the revival of optimus and Sam, and felt they were trying to end it as quickly as it had began. it became boring after awhile, and although i went into it with an open mind, came out with a lower I.Q, wondering if i should have just waited until DVD. On a more positive note I think the effects were drastically improved from the first.
If you are looking for dumb fun, lots of action and very little else, then this is a movie to shell out your cash with, if you are looking for a little less bang for your buck, then you may want to rent it.
