Here we go again with my Pixar movies. Now we have left the territory of the films that have not made it into my pantheon of great Pixar films. I did like Cars, but I gave it an A-, and to get into my pantheon, you have to get at least a 93% A. So, the first film in this pantheon (I will stop using that word now), is the only sequel in Pixar's line of films. And by god, is it hilarious. Boasting some of the best comedy in any animated film I have ever seen, Toy Story 2 showed that Pixar was here to stay. The film picks up a couple years after the first one left off. Woody the Cowboy's arm is accidentally ripped in a game, and Woody becomes increasingly worried that his owner, Andy, will not love him any more. After a freak yard sale accident, Woody is toy napped by a toy collector named Al (Wayne Knight). So it's up to Buzz Lightyear, Rex, Slinky, Mr. Potatohead, and my favorite of the toys Ham to save Woody. Along the way of course, they pick up more toys, including a cowgirl doll, Buzz's enemy Zerg, and a tour guide Barbie. Directing was great, we're dealing with John Lasseter again, and visuals were beautiful of course. Acting was great, Tom Hanks brought heart to Woody, Tim Allen (in one of his more likable roles) plays Buzz, wait a minute. The two main characters are played by actors with first names that begin with the letter T and have three letters, and their last names are also first names, how strange. Anyway, supporting ensemble was great, and make sure to stay during the credits for some HILARIOUS outtakes that probably are the funniest part of the movie. Overall, an absolutely excellent Pixar film, and definitely one of the Pixar greats
Grade: 93.4% A
